What bank is Cash App?
Cash App is not a bank. Its Terms of Service name Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., Sutton Bank, and The Bancorp Bank, N.A. as partner banks for applicable services. The bank involved depends on the product, so it is not accurate to call any one of them “the Cash App bank” for every account or feature.

Which bank issues the Cash App Card?
Cash App says Sutton Bank issues Cash App Cards on its online banking page. That card-specific relationship does not mean Sutton Bank holds every customer’s funds or provides every Cash App service.
Is a Cash App balance FDIC-insured?
Cash App’s terms describe pass-through FDIC insurance of up to $250,000 at a partner bank when applicable conditions are met. Eligibility depends on the account and product—for example, the terms specify qualifying Cash App Card or Sponsored Account conditions—and the bank holding eligible funds must fail for this insurance to apply. The limit is not a promise that every Cash App balance is insured: eligible deposits held at the same bank in the same legal capacity are aggregated, and FDIC insurance does not cover every kind of loss.

There is no universal, guaranteed Cash App giveaway established by the official sources. Be precise about what you mean: receiving a payment from someone is not the same as earning an offer, and adding money is not a reward.

Receive money from another person
A person can send you money through Cash App. That is a payment from the sender, not free money issued by Cash App. Confirm the payment in your own account rather than trusting a screenshot or a message claiming it was sent.
Add money to your account
Cash App describes ways to add funds, including direct deposit, a linked bank account, check deposit, and paper-money deposit where available. These are ways to move or deposit your own funds; they are not a Cash App bonus.

How to spot a Cash App free-money scam
The Federal Trade Commission warns: “Anyone in your social media feed saying they have money to give you is a scammer.” Its 2024 alert also says, “Don’t pay to get a prize.” These warnings concern scam patterns; they do not mean every offer displayed through Cash App is fraudulent.
- Do not pay a fee, send money, or buy something to claim a supposed prize or giveaway.
- Do not share your sign-in code, password, PIN, or other account credentials with someone promising a payout.
- Verify offers inside the official app and read their terms. Treat unsolicited social-media messages and screenshots as unverified.
- Before sending money, confirm the recipient. Payment-app transfers can be difficult to recover.
- If you believe you paid a scammer, report it to the payment app and the FTC.

Which details should you check for your Cash App use?
- For a card: distinguish the Cash App Card from other card products, and check the issuing-bank disclosure for that specific card.
- For direct deposit or a balance: consult the current product terms rather than assuming the card issuer is the bank holding the funds.
- For FDIC coverage: check whether your account and funds meet the terms’ eligibility conditions and consider other deposits you hold at the same bank in the same legal capacity.
- For a claimed reward: look for the offer in the official app and verify its requirements; a message from a stranger is not proof of an official promotion.
