West Bromwich Albion is owned through Bilkul Football WBA, LLC, ultimately owned by entrepreneur Shilen Patel and his father, Dr Kiran C. Patel. The club’s current ownership disclosure says Bilkul holds 93.9% of the parent company’s issued share capital. Shilen Patel’s personal net worth, however, is not established by the available public sources; a circulating $100 million estimate is unverified.
Who owns West Bromwich Albion?
Bilkul Football WBA, LLC completed its acquisition of West Bromwich Albion Group Limited on 28 February 2024. In its takeover announcement, the club said Bilkul was ultimately owned by Shilen Patel and his father, Dr Kiran C. Patel. West Bromwich Albion Football Club Limited, the football club operating company, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the group.
The ownership figures differ because they come from statements published at different times:

These are not interchangeable snapshots: 87.8% was the figure announced at completion, while 93.9% is the stake reported on the club’s current ownership page. That page also says Shilen Patel and Dr Kiran C. Patel each indirectly hold a significant interest in Bilkul. Shilen Patel is identified by the club as chairman and a statutory director, as well as chairman, president and cofounder of Bilkul Football Group.

What is Shilen Patel’s source of wealth?
West Brom describes Patel as an entrepreneur and investor with ventures spanning technology, healthcare and real estate. A BBC report on the period before the sale described Patel’s background as being in the health sector and said his father made his fortune through insurance. That provides context about the family’s business backgrounds, but it does not establish how much wealth Patel personally owns or how it is divided within the family.
The club has not published a personal balance sheet or a calculation of Patel’s net worth. The available sources therefore do not establish a reliable personal figure or a complete, independently verified account of the origins and composition of his individual wealth.

Is Shilen Patel worth $100 million?
West Brom News has reported an estimate of about $100 million for Patel’s net worth and about $2 billion in family assets. Those figures are unverified estimates: the source material available does not substantiate them with primary financial documentation. The $2 billion figure concerns reported family assets, not necessarily assets personally owned by Patel; neither figure should be treated as a confirmed valuation of his personal wealth.
In particular, an ownership stake in West Brom, money invested in the club, and family assets are different measures. None can by itself establish Patel’s personal net worth.

How much money has West Brom received?
West Brom’s financial results describe the club, not Patel’s private finances. The club’s announcement of its accounts for the 12 months ended 30 June 2024 reported a £33.9 million loss and £28.2 million in turnover. It also said the club had received £25.3 million in additional capital injections to date and that Bilkul continued to provide operating money. These figures are club-level results and funding, not a measure of the chairman’s personal wealth. See the club’s 2023/24 accounts announcement.

In the club’s 28 February 2024 takeover announcement, Patel said: “I am delighted and humbled to become the new custodian of West Bromwich Albion Football Club.” He also said: “Success does not occur overnight, but it is my ambition to build on the club’s current and historical strengths and surround West Bromwich Albion with high quality stakeholders at home and globally.”
