Who won the Multan franchise auction?
PCB announced that Walee Technologies won the Multan franchise auction at Lahore’s Expo Centre on Monday evening, 9 February 2026. The board identified Walee Technologies, led by CEO Ahsan Tahir, as the successful bidder. It described the result as the highest figure among the eight HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises. What does the PKR 2.45 billion figure mean?
PCB reported a winning bid of PKR 245 crore, equivalent to PKR 2.45 billion, against an opening or base price of PKR 182 crore. The figure is the bid for the Multan franchise rights; it should not be described as a verified valuation of Walee or as payment for a permanent transfer of a company. PCB’s auction announcement

Dawn reported that the winning bid covered the annual fee to maintain ownership for the next ten years. That term and fee description are Dawn’s reporting; the amount should therefore be understood in that context, not as a one-time purchase price. Dawn’s auction-day report
Was ZKB part of the winning consortium?
The available official PCB announcement names Walee Technologies as the winner, and Dawn’s contemporaneous account also identifies Walee. Neither source supports the claim that ZKB participated in a consortium. Unless an authoritative announcement confirms otherwise, the accurate description is that Walee Technologies won the bid; ZKB’s role is unverified.

Is Multan Sultans becoming Rawalpindi?
At the auction, Walee CEO Ahsan Tahir said, “Are you ready for a surprise? We will be going for Rawalpindi!” Dawn reported the remark as an announcement of intent. The franchise’s official website, when accessed for this article, displayed “Multan Sultans” under new ownership and said merchandise and fixtures were coming soon. That page and the auction-day comment do not settle whether a name or base change has since been formally confirmed. Keep the separate PSL media-rights deal distinct
PCB separately announced Walee Technologies was set to acquire Pakistan domestic television and live-streaming rights for the 2026–29 cycle for PKR 26.11 billion. That is a different transaction from the Multan franchise auction and should not be added to, or confused with, the PKR 245 crore franchise bid. PCB’s media-rights announcement
