In a later update, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York said Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty on August 14, 2026, to interstate stalking resulting in death and cyberstalking through use of interstate facilities resulting in death in connection with Thompson’s murder. DOJ listed sentencing for December 18, 2026. The scheduled date may change, and the plea announcement should not be read as resolving every charge described in the initial federal announcement.
