Warner Music Group and AI music platform Udio announced a settlement on November 19, 2025, resolving their copyright litigation and setting a framework for a licensed music-creation service planned for 2026. The announcement was a settlement and business agreement—not a court ruling on the lawsuit’s allegations. The public materials reviewed do not establish whether the service has launched or disclose its final terms.
What Warner Music and Udio agreed to
Warner Music Group (WMG) said the agreement resolves its litigation with Udio and establishes a framework for developing a licensed music-creation service. WMG described the planned service as a next-generation platform for music creation, listening and discovery, developed in collaboration with artists and songwriters. Its announcement gave 2026 as the target year; that historical target does not confirm that the service is available now. WMG’s announcement

Udio’s partnership FAQ described proposed tools for creating remixes, covers and new songs using the voices and styles of artists who choose to participate. These were announced intentions, not a verified final feature list. Udio’s FAQ
What the settlement does—and does not—establish
The settlement ended the Warner-Udio dispute, but the announcement did not report a judicial decision on whether Udio’s earlier conduct infringed copyright. Any account of the original claims should describe them as allegations made in the litigation, not as proven findings. TechCrunch’s contemporaneous report and the Los Angeles Times report covered the announcement.

WMG did not disclose the settlement’s financial terms or identify participating artists in the public announcement. The reviewed public reporting likewise does not provide a payment amount or the detailed licensing terms. The agreement therefore signals a move toward authorized use, but it does not reveal the commercial arrangements behind that plan.
How Warner’s deal differs from UMG’s earlier Udio agreement
Universal Music Group (UMG) announced its own settlement and licensing arrangement with Udio on October 29, 2025, before Warner’s announcement. UMG said its agreement covered recorded music and publishing and would support a new commercial music-creation, consumption and streaming experience. That separate announcement does not disclose Warner’s terms. UMG’s announcement

What is known about the service’s status
As of October 8, 2026, the sources cited here establish that WMG and Udio announced a 2026 target; they do not establish whether the service launched, who can use it, what it costs or which artists have opted in. Udio’s FAQ also described transition terms that applied when it was published in connection with the October 2025 arrangement. That is a historical statement, not confirmation of Udio’s current terms.
WMG CEO Robert Kyncl said the company was “unwaveringly committed to the protection of the rights of our artists and songwriters, and Udio has taken meaningful steps to ensure that the music on its service will be authorized and licensed.” This is Kyncl’s characterization in WMG’s announcement, not an independent assessment of the service’s operation.
