Survivor 48 winner Kyle Fraser received the show’s advertised $1 million prize. That is the stated award—not a confirmed after-tax payout. Federal tax guidance says television quiz-program and other event prizes must be included in income, but Fraser’s individual tax bill and take-home amount have not been established.
How much did the Survivor 48 winner get?
CBS and Paramount announced that the Season 48 Sole Survivor would receive $1 million, and CBS’s finale listing repeated that prize amount. Kyle Fraser won the season; CBS 58 reported after the May 21, 2025 finale that he took home the $1 million prize.
In this context, “$1 million” describes the advertised prize. It does not establish how much Fraser ultimately kept after taxes.
Does the winner keep the whole million dollars?
Not necessarily. IRS Publication 525 (2025) says that a prize won on a television or radio quiz program, or at another event, must be included in income. That establishes general federal income-tax treatment; it does not reveal Fraser’s final tax bill or net proceeds.

The available sources do not state his tax return, any withholding, applicable state or local tax calculation, or final take-home amount. Without those individual details, a specific after-tax estimate would be guesswork. The general gambling withholding rate should not be treated as the withholding rule for this television prize. For advice about a particular tax situation, consult a qualified tax professional.
What has Kyle Fraser said he will do with the prize?
CBS 58 reported that Fraser planned to use the money to repay student loans and support his family. The report does not give a breakdown of how much he intended to allocate to either purpose.
