What makes the price high—and what is included?
The Edition 50 is a special-edition, front-wheel-drive hot hatch, not simply a standard GTI with a commemorative badge. Volkswagen describes it as “the most powerful production model in the history of the GTI.” Its listed output is 239 kW (325 PS) and 420 Nm from a 1,984 cm³ turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a seven-speed DSG. Volkswagen’s German-market release lists DCC adaptive chassis control, IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights and 19-inch Queenstown wheels among standard equipment, along with a black roof and darkened side and rear windows. What does the optional Performance package add?
In Volkswagen’s German-market materials, the optional package is aimed at more focused driving, including track use. Volkswagen also reports that its test and development driver Benjamin Leuchter completed the 20.832 km Nürburgring Nordschleife in 07:46.13 in April 2025. The manufacturer says the car used the optional Edition 50 GTI Performance package.
