Voletta Wallace Net Worth: What the $20 Million Estimate Does—and Doesn’t—Show

Celebrity Net Worth estimates Voletta Wallace’s net worth at $20 million at the time of her death. That figure is a third-party estimate, not a verified accounting of her assets and debts. Public court records clarify that Wallace had an interest in a company connected to her son’s legacy, but do not establish the total value of her personal estate or how much she received from any related transaction.

What was Voletta Wallace’s net worth when she died?

Celebrity Net Worth places Voletta Wallace’s net worth at $20 million at the time of her death. The estimate could not be independently verified against a public inventory of her assets and liabilities, so it should be treated as an estimate rather than a confirmed estate value. Wallace died on February 21, 2025, at age 78, in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; the coroner attributed her death to natural causes, according to the Associated Press. The net-worth estimate is from Celebrity Net Worth.

Why Biggie’s catalog value is not her personal net worth

Christopher Wallace’s music, name and image rights, and the company that manages some of those interests are not interchangeable with Voletta Wallace’s personal wealth. Their ownership, beneficiaries, and transaction terms are separate questions.

A 2021 federal filing by Notorious B.I.G., LLC describes the company as holding and protecting intellectual property associated with Christopher Wallace, including licensing trademark, sponsorship, association, and publicity rights. The filing states the company’s position; it is not a valuation of Voletta Wallace’s personal assets. Read the company’s federal filing.

Celebrity Net Worth has reported a Primary Wave transaction involving a 50% interest in Biggie-related publishing, recordings, and name, image, and likeness rights. It describes an overall valuation above $200 million but says the precise purchase price was not publicly disclosed. This is secondary reporting about rights associated with Christopher Wallace—not a confirmed payment to Voletta Wallace or proof of her personal net worth. See Celebrity Net Worth’s report.

Album sales likewise do not reveal an individual’s royalty income or ownership share. The Associated Press reported that Ready to Die had sold over six million units, citing the Recording Industry Association of America in 2018, and that Life After Death had sold more than 11 million units. Those sales figures are not company revenue, royalties, or Wallace’s net worth. Associated Press report.

What court records say about Wallace’s estate and company interest

In an August 7, 2026 memorandum opinion, the Delaware Court of Chancery addressed whether the Voletta Wallace Revocable Trust qualified as a member of Notorious B.I.G., LLC and could receive distributions. The court ruled that the trust qualified under the company’s operating agreement. That decision establishes a company-related legal right; it does not state the total value of Wallace’s personal estate.

The opinion recounts that Wallace created the trust in 2020 and amended it on February 6, 2025, removing C.J. Wallace and Carol Sampson as successor trustees and leaving Wayne Barrow as trustee, while also changing the disposition of certain assets. It says her will left her estate to the trust. The later dispute concerned whether the trust could receive company distributions. Read the Delaware Court of Chancery opinion.

A separate Pennsylvania challenge to Wallace’s estate-planning changes should not be confused with the Delaware decision about company membership. The Delaware ruling does not resolve the total value of her estate or establish the amount of any distribution. See the Pennsylvania case information.

How Wallace protected her son’s legacy

Wallace became a public guardian of her son’s legacy after his death, despite describing herself as a private person. “They never knew me. The public never knew me. I was thrust into this environment, I should say, after he passed away, because I’m a very private person. Extremely private,” she told the Associated Press.

She established the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation and worked as an executive producer on the 2021 Netflix documentary Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell, AP reported. Describing the foundation’s support for bereaved families, she said: “It is our way of saying, ‘Keep your head up,”’ Wallace told AP at the time. “It’s the foundation’s way just to let these parents know that we love them.” Associated Press report.
