Veronica B announced an Australian Influencer Union at a Sydney event in July 2025, but a follow-up report says she clarified on August 3 that the union did not exist and the announcement was a joke. The available reporting describes a speech and a later clarification—not a formally established or operating union.
What did Veronica B announce?
PerthNow reported on July 31, 2025, that Veronica B spoke to an audience of about 100 influencers at a Sydney event. Known for skits about cultural stereotypes, she argued that influencers should be treated seriously and receive more rights. The article attributed to her the remarks, “I’m kind of sick and tired of us influencers being treated as if we’re a joke” and “We deserve more rights and we deserve to be taken seriously.”
PerthNow also reported that she described content creation and influencing as hard work, and referred to restaurant reviews, makeup tutorials and outfit videos as examples of creator work. Those examples and claims were part of her argument; they do not establish that all creators share the same working conditions or legal rights. Read PerthNow’s July 31 report.
Did an Australian influencer union actually form?
The later account changes how the announcement should be understood. Yahoo, citing People, reported on August 4, 2025, that Veronica posted a TikTok clarification the previous day: “The Australian influencer union — that doesn’t exist,” followed by, “It’s obviously a joke.”

The reports establish that she made the announcement and later said it was a joke. They do not establish that an organization was formally registered, began operating or represented members. Calling the episode the formation of an actual union would go beyond what the coverage supports. Read the Yahoo report, which credits People.
Why did she say influencers deserved respect?
In the remarks reported by PerthNow, Veronica said she was tired of influencers being treated as a joke and argued that creators deserved more rights and to be taken seriously. She also described their work as hard. These are her stated views, not independent findings about the nature of influencer work or the legal rights available to creators.

How was the announcement received?
PerthNow described online reactions as mixed. Some commenters mocked the idea or questioned the social value of influencer work, while others expressed support. That reporting does not show that the comments represented Australians or creators as a whole.
