The “up to 80% off” luggage offers in PerthNow’s ShopNow article were reported on 1 December 2025—not verified current deals. Its headline also does not establish that the sale happens every year. If you are using the article to plan a purchase, treat its prices and promotions as historical examples, then compare live prices and check your airline’s baggage rules before buying.
What the 1 December 2025 article reported
PerthNow ShopNow’s 1 December 2025 sale roundup described holiday-season and Cyber Monday promotions. It reported Amazon luggage and travel gear advertised at up to 80% off; American Tourister discounts of up to 50% and clearance offers; Antler Cyber Monday discounts of up to 50% sitewide; Samsonite discounts of up to 50% on suitcases, bags and backpacks; and discounts at Strandbags on Samsonite, Guess and other brands. It also mentioned Myer discounts across more than 600 suitcases.
The article separately described a July bundle promotion that could save up to $240 when buying two or more items. These were claims about offers at the time of publication, not live quotes. The article does not establish that the same promotions are available now or recur on a fixed annual schedule. Check a retailer’s current listing, sale terms, stock and checkout price before relying on a discount.
How to choose luggage before comparing sale prices
Start with the trip, not the advertised saving. Consider how long you will be away, what you need to pack, whether the bag will be carried on or checked, and how you will travel. A discounted suitcase is poor value if it exceeds your airline allowance or does not suit the journey.

Carry-on rules depend on the airline and ticket
There is no single carry-on size in the article that can be treated as accepted across Australian airlines. Allowances can vary by airline and ticket type. Check the current size and weight rules for your specific flight before purchasing, including any conditions for additional personal items.
Hard shell or soft shell?
| Type | Potential fit | Trade-offs described in the article |
|---|---|---|
| Hard shell | May suit checked travel or fragile and expensive contents where a more protective exterior is useful. | Can crack under extreme pressure; less flexible when trying to fit into a tight space. |
| Soft shell | May suit carry-on use or situations where flexibility helps the bag fit into a confined space. | Fabric can stain or admit water. |
These are general trade-offs described by PerthNow, not results of independent durability testing. The article does not establish that every hard-shell or fabric suitcase performs the same way.

Check function as well as capacity
- Weight and dimensions: Compare the packed bag’s likely weight and external dimensions with the airline allowance, not just its advertised capacity.
- Expandability: An expansion panel can add room, but an expanded case may no longer meet a carry-on limit.
- Wheels and handle: Consider wheel arrangement and whether the handle feels usable for the way you will move the case.
- Interior: Dividers, compartments and compression straps can help organise clothing and keep items in place.
- Security: Check what lock or zipper features are actually included, rather than assuming a particular label guarantees protection.
- Returns and warranty: Read the seller’s return conditions and the manufacturer’s warranty terms for the exact model and region before paying.

How to assess whether a discount is real value
- Confirm the live price and stock. Compare the retailer’s current checkout price with the model’s present price elsewhere; a past “was” price from December 2025 is not a current benchmark.
- Compare the exact model and size. Suitcase names can cover different dimensions and capacities. Make sure the current listing matches the size and features you need.
- Check the total cost and terms. Review delivery charges, return conditions, warranty coverage and any conditions attached to a bundle or promotional code.
- Verify baggage compatibility. Check your airline and ticket’s current carry-on or checked-bag rules before buying, especially if you plan to use an expansion feature.
