Analysts surveyed by Reuters estimated U.S. soybean crush at 206.1 million bushels for December 2023, according to a report published before the USDA’s monthly release. That was a forecast—not the official USDA result. The estimate was higher than the November 2023 volume and the December 2022 volume cited in the same report.

What was the December 2023 soybean crush estimate?

The pre-release estimate was 206.1 million bushels, gathered from nine analysts and reported by Reuters on January 31, 2024. It described expected U.S. soybean crush for December 2023; it should not be read as a confirmed USDA figure. Reuters report syndicated by ADM Investor Services.

How did the estimate compare with earlier volumes?

The Reuters report cited 200.1 million bushels for November 2023 and 187.4 million bushels for December 2022. The 206.1-million-bushel estimate was above both reference figures, but that comparison does not show what USDA ultimately reported for December 2023.

Period Bushels What the figure represents
December 2023 206.1 million Analyst estimate from nine analysts, reported before USDA publication
November 2023 200.1 million Volume cited in the January 31, 2024 estimate report
December 2022 187.4 million Volume cited in the January 31, 2024 estimate report

Contemporaneous agricultural coverage likewise presented 206.1 million bushels as an expectation ahead of publication, rather than as an official observation. Agriculture.com market newswire.

Was 206.1 million bushels the final USDA result?
