It was the program’s Lot 11 contract—not a new 2026 award—and Boeing later announced a separate Lot 12 contract in November 2025.
What did the $2.38 billion contract cover?
Boeing said the U.S. Air Force awarded it a contract for 15 additional KC-46A Pegasus multi-mission aerial refuelers. Boeing announced the Lot 11 award on November 21, 2024, and stated the contract value as $2.38 billion. Boeing’s announcement is the source for the stated value and quantity.
The $2.38 billion is the announced value of the contract as a whole. The announcement does not establish a per-aircraft price, nor does it provide delivery dates or contract completion terms. It is therefore not possible to divide the award value by 15 and treat the result as a confirmed price for each tanker.
How does Lot 11 compare with the later Lot 12 award?
Boeing announced another U.S. Air Force award for 15 KC-46As on November 25, 2025. That Lot 12 contract was valued by Boeing at $2.47 billion. Boeing also reported that its global total of KC-46As on contract had increased from 168 at the time of the 2024 announcement to 183 in the 2025 announcement.

The figures in both rows are from Boeing announcements: Lot 11, November 21, 2024, and Lot 12, November 25, 2025. “On contract globally” is Boeing’s reported program total at each announcement; it is not a count of aircraft delivered or in service.
What did Boeing say about the aircraft’s operational record?
In its November 2024 release, Boeing reported that KC-46As had logged more than 100,000 flight hours and offloaded more than 200 million pounds of fuel. Those are Boeing’s program figures, not independently verified measurements in the announcement. The release also attributes two remarks to Lynn Fox, Boeing vice president and KC-46 program manager: “We appreciate our continued partnership with the U.S. Air Force,” and “This is another big milestone for our team, and we look forward to delivering the world’s most advanced multi-mission aerial refuelers for years to come.”

What the award announcement does not establish
Boeing’s releases provide the lot quantities, stated values, announcement dates, and company-reported global on-contract totals. They do not specify the Lot 11 delivery schedule or completion terms, or provide full government contract documentation. Those details should not be inferred from the award value or aircraft count.
