The UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 application deadline was 5 March 2024. The phrase “deadline today” applied only on that date: the CSE 2024 application window is closed. For a later cycle, use the deadline and instructions in that cycle’s official UPSC notice.
UPSC CSE 2024 registration deadline and last date to apply
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Examination Notice No. 05/2024, dated 14 February 2024, set 5 March 2024 as the last date to submit an online application for the Civil Services Examination 2024. The deadline is historical, so candidates cannot use it to apply for that examination now. Read the official CSE 2024 examination notice.
How to apply for UPSC CSE 2024
When the application window was open, UPSC required candidates to register on its One Time Registration (OTR) platform before proceeding to the examination application. Candidates who had already completed OTR did not need to register again for that step. The 2024 notice described OTR as a one-time registration that could be completed throughout the year.
UPSC’s notice instructed: “Candidates are required to apply online by using the website upsconline.nic.in.” Its application instructions directed candidates to complete OTR first and then fill out the online examination application. Those directions describe the 2024 process; they are not a way to submit an application after the deadline.
Where to apply for a current UPSC Civil Services Examination
UPSC’s current Apply Online page directs examination applicants to its application portal at upsconline.nic.in. As of 8 October 2026, the application deadline for CSE Preliminary 2026 had passed: UPSC listed 27 February 2026 at 6:00 p.m. as the closing time. Check UPSC’s CSE Preliminary 2026 page.
For another cycle, check UPSC’s Apply Online page and the official notice for that specific examination before starting. Deadlines and application instructions belong to individual cycles; do not carry a date or procedure from CSE 2024 or 2026 into a later notice.
