The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the provisional answer key and recorded-response question papers for UGC NET June 2025 on 5 July 2025. Candidates could challenge answers from 6 July through 5:00 p.m. on 8 July 2025; that deadline has passed. The fee was ₹200 for each question challenged, and it was non-refundable.
What NTA released for UGC NET June 2025
NTA’s 5 July 2025 notice made provisional answer keys and question papers with recorded responses available for the examination, which was held from 25 to 29 June 2025 across 85 subjects. The keys were provisional: candidates could submit answer-key challenges, which NTA’s notice also described as suggestions, during the announced window. NTA’s public notice and UGC NET portal
A provisional key is not the final answer key used to prepare results. The challenge process gave candidates a way to identify a disputed answer and provide supporting evidence for expert review.

How the answer-key challenge process worked
The annexure to NTA’s notice described this online process. It is provided here as a record of the 2025 procedure, not as an open application route.
- Visit the official UGC NET portal and select the answer-key challenge link.
- Log in using the application number and date of birth, then review the answer sheet and question IDs.
- Select the answer option or options to challenge. Upload supporting documents as a single PDF if needed.
- Review the claims and submit them through the portal.
- Pay ₹200 for each challenged question by card, net banking or UPI. The claim was finally saved after successful payment.
Questions marked as dropped were highlighted in the portal and could not be challenged. NTA said it would not individually notify candidates of challenge outcomes. NTA notice and challenge-process annexure, 5 July 2025
How NTA used accepted challenges
Subject experts reviewed the submitted challenges. NTA stated: “If the challenge of any candidate is found correct, the Answer Key will be revised and applied in the response of all the candidates accordingly.” In other words, an accepted correction was incorporated into the revised final key and applied across candidates; it was not limited to the person who raised the challenge. NTA said results would be prepared using the revised final key.
