What the January 4, 2025 deadline referred to
The deadline-day headline concerned the Uttarakhand Combined State Civil/Lower Subordinate Services Examination 2024, commonly called UKPSC Lower PCS. Scroll reported on January 4, 2025 that applications would close that day. This was a historical deadline, not an indication that applications are open now. Scroll’s January 4, 2025 report described the application process and linked to the recruitment notice.
Can you still apply for UKPSC Lower PCS 2024?
No. The application window described in the January 2025 report has ended. The official portal’s later-stage listings include a physical ability test admit-card entry for Deputy Jailor and Excise Inspector under the 2024 examination, as well as a previous online preference window. Those are recruitment-stage updates, not a fresh registration opportunity. Check the UKPSC online application portal for notices that are currently available; the portal is commission-maintained, though its listings may require JavaScript to display.
Vacancies and fees reported at the time
Scroll’s January 4, 2025 report described 113 vacancies across nine job titles and listed the following breakdown. These are historical figures reported for that recruitment, not details for a current UKPSC opening.

The same report listed application fees of ₹150 for unreserved, Uttarakhand state EWS, and state OBC applicants, and ₹60 for state SC/ST applicants. These were the reported fees for the expired application period; they are not payment instructions for a current recruitment.
What the archived application instructions said
The 2025 report described a process of visiting UKPSC’s website, selecting the Lower Subordinate Services Examination 2024 registration link, registering, completing and submitting the form, paying the fee, and keeping a printout. That description explains how applicants were directed to apply during the original window; it does not mean the form is still available.
Check the correction-window date carefully
Scroll’s article, published January 4, 2025, gives a correction window of January 10–20, 2024. That year conflicts with the article’s publication date. The official notification PDF linked in the report could not be opened to verify the correction schedule, so the correct year is not established here. Do not rely on that date without checking an official UKPSC notice. The PDF is hosted at the official Uttarakhand Public Service Commission domain.
