Trump Media & Technology Group’s Nasdaq-listed DJT shares fell below $20 on August 28, 2024, for the first time since the company began public trading after its March merger, according to Futurism’s report that day. The headline’s “Execs Abandon Ship” phrasing needs qualification: stock transactions do not prove executives resigned, and the SEC filing for CFO Phillip Juhan says his reported share disposition covered tax withholding, with no cash proceeds to him.
What happened to DJT stock in August 2024?
Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. (TMTG), the company behind Truth Social, trades on Nasdaq under the ticker DJT. Futurism reported on August 28, 2024, that shares had fallen below $20 for the first time since TMTG’s March 2024 merger and start of public trading. That is a dated historical price event, not a current quote or a claim about the stock’s lowest level through 2026.
The report also described stock disposals by executives. Those transactions drew attention amid the decline, but a securities filing records a transaction—not, by itself, a job departure.
What did the executive stock filings show?
Phillip Juhan: shares remitted for tax withholding
Futurism characterized CFO and treasurer Phillip Juhan’s transaction as a $1.9 million stock sale. His SEC Form 4, filed August 23, 2024, supplies an important distinction: it reports a disposition of 84,941 shares at a stated price of $22.70 on August 22. The filing’s footnote says the shares were remitted to TMTG solely to cover withholding payments to taxing authorities and that Juhan received no cash proceeds. The reported value should therefore not be read as cash he realized from an open-market sale.

Devin Nunes: a filing is not proof of a departure
An SEC filing index lists CEO Devin Nunes as a reporting person on a Form 4 for the August 22, 2024 report period. The index alone does not establish the nature of each transaction or show that he was leaving the company. The underlying filing is needed to describe transaction details accurately.
Andrew Northwall: resignation came later
TMTG’s later SEC annual report says COO Andrew Northwall’s resignation took effect September 28, 2024, and that the company entered a separation agreement with him on October 10. Those dates are after the August 28 stock story; the later resignation does not show that the August transactions were departures.

Did the executives leave when the stock fell?
No evidence cited in the August 2024 report establishes a simultaneous executive exodus. Juhan’s filing documents a tax-withholding remittance rather than cash proceeds, while the available index entry for Nunes does not establish an employment change. Northwall’s resignation was effective a month later. Nunes’s reported departure as CEO came in April 2026, according to a Moneycontrol republication of Bloomberg’s report—another later event, not evidence about what the August 2024 stock transactions meant at the time.

Futurism quoted University of Florida finance professor Jay Ritter assessing the company’s prospects: “Any upside for the company is dependent on coming up with a business strategy to generate revenue and profits. So far, the company has failed to find a successful strategy.” That is Ritter’s attributed opinion, not an audited finding or a statement from TMTG.

The verified price fact is narrow: Futurism reported the below-$20 threshold on August 28, 2024. It does not, by itself, explain why the shares moved, establish a present-day price, or demonstrate that executives were abandoning their jobs. Those conclusions require evidence beyond a dated share-price report and a transaction headline.
