On April 23, 2025, Donald Trump announced a contest offering the 220 highest-ranked holders of his $TRUMP meme coin a dinner with him on May 22. The top 25 were also promised a VIP reception and special tour. The offer was tied to how much qualifying $TRUMP participants held and for how long—not simply to buying a ticket.
What the $TRUMP contest offered
The April 23 promotion advertised a “private gala dinner” and called it “the most EXCLUSIVE INVITATION in the world,” as quoted in Reuters’ April 23, 2025 report. The offer named May 22 as the dinner date and limited eligibility to the top 220 qualifying holders. The top 25 were promised an additional VIP reception and special tour.
The invitation was an incentive attached to holding a volatile digital asset. It did not guarantee that buying a particular number of tokens would secure a place: qualification depended on a ranking, and the promotion’s terms allowed an NFT in lieu of Trump’s attendance in specified circumstances.
How holders qualified
The contest ranked participants using time-weighted holdings over the period from the announcement through the May 12, 2025 cutoff. In practical terms, the ranking considered both the amount held and the duration of the holding. A large balance alone did not describe the full eligibility calculation.

The available reporting does not establish a fixed token threshold that guaranteed admission. The top-ranked qualifying participants—not every person who bought $TRUMP—were eligible under the contest rules. As with any ranking contest, a participant’s position depended on the holdings of others as well as their own.
What participants reportedly spent
Reuters reported estimates from crypto intelligence firm Inca Digital that participants spent about $148 million to secure dinner seats, with the top 25 reportedly spending more than $111 million. These are estimates, not audited totals, and they do not establish a universal price per seat. Participants acquired and held tokens under a ranking system; the reported total should not be read as a ticket price charged by the event.

How the announcement affected the reported token price
Reuters reported that $TRUMP rose more than 60% after the dinner offer was announced on April 23, 2025. That figure describes the reported market reaction at the time, not the token’s present value or a prediction of future performance.
A separate historical price description came from a 2025 letter by Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee. The letter characterized the token as having fallen from a reported peak near $75 to around $7.50 before the dinner offer. The dinner took place—and some attendees were named
The dinner was held on May 22, 2025, at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. The Washington Post reported that attendees included crypto entrepreneur Justin Sun, former NBA player Lamar Odom, and an investor known by the pseudonym Ogle: The Washington Post’s May 22, 2025 report.

Not necessarily. The leaderboard could display usernames chosen by participants, and the Associated Press reported that it was unclear whether the public would learn the identities of people who had bought their way into the dinner: The Associated Press report. That does not mean every participant was anonymous: reporting identified some attendees, while display usernames meant a public ranking did not by itself establish every holder’s real-world identity.
