The $169 in TransNusa’s Perth to Bali headline was a launch-period starting fare reported in early 2025. It is not a price you can rely on today. The route is real: TransNusa began flying Denpasar (DPS) to Perth (PER) on March 20, 2025, and its frequency has grown since. For a personal budget, treat $169 as a historical reference point and price the trip against live fares for your own dates.
What the $169 figure actually referred to
Two different launch-era prices appear in the coverage, and they come from different places:
- AUD $169 starting fare. Travel Daily’s January 17, 2025 newsletter described tickets as starting at AUD $169. This is the figure behind the headline. It is a media report of an advertised starting price, not a fare TransNusa had to honour on any particular date.
- IDR 1,799,000 one way. TransNusa’s own announcement, datelined January 15 and published January 22, 2025, gave the one-way starting fare in Indonesian rupiah and said it included 15 kg of free checked baggage.
Neither figure states travel dates, taxes or fees, so neither can be compared directly with a current total fare for a trip you would actually book. A “from” price is also the cheapest seat on the cheapest day, not a typical fare.
Launch timeline and schedule
The route moved from a single launch schedule to a much larger one within about 18 months. The table lists each milestone with the source that published it. Every frequency below is a planned schedule announced at the time, not confirmed operation on a later date.
#1 Best Overall
| Date | Milestone | Stated schedule or aircraft | Source (date published) |
|---|---|---|---|
| January 2025 | Route announced; tickets on sale; first flight set for March 20, 2025 | Airbus A320, 174 seats | TransNusa announcement (January 2025) |
| March 20, 2025 | Inaugural service operates Denpasar to Perth | Three weekly flights, Monday, Thursday and Saturday | Perth Airport confirmation (March 2025) |
| April 12, 2025 | Planned increase | Four weekly flights | TransNusa announcement and Perth Airport (2025) |
| June 1, 2025 | Planned increase | Daily service | TransNusa announcement and Perth Airport (2025) |
| July 18, 2025 | Planned move to double-daily service | Two daily flights; A320, 174 seats; flight time about 3 hours 40 minutes | Perth Airport announcement (June 2025) |
| July 2026 | Planned increase from 17 to 21 weekly flights | 21 flights per week | Perth Airport announcement (January 2026) |
The July 2026 increase is the most recent schedule figure available in this article. It was scheduled to begin before today’s date, and neither the launch material nor the airport’s later announcement establishes the timetable in force now or the flights on sale for October 2026.
At launch, Perth Airport chief operations officer Scott Woodward said: “The introduction of TransNusa to Perth provides another fantastic option for West Aussies to visit our favourite holiday destination of Bali.” In January 2026, Perth Airport chief commercial and aviation officer Kate Holsgrove said: “More international services provide more options for Western Australians who love to travel.” The airport also attributed 42,000 Indonesian visitors and $119 million in annual economic contribution to the wider service mix. Those are the airport’s figures, not TransNusa passenger counts.

Baggage: what the launch terms said
TransNusa Group CEO Datuk Bernard Francis said in the January 2025 announcement that passengers would have checked baggage of “between 15kgs to 30 kgs, depending on the product purchased.” Perth Airport’s launch-era description of the fare products adds the following detail:
- Hand luggage: 7 kg.
- Checked baggage: 15 kg to 30 kg, depending on the product.
- Top product (FLEXI-PRO): 30 kg checked baggage, free seat choice, food and drinks, and priority check-in and boarding.
These terms were described at launch and may have changed. The baggage allowance attached to the fare you select is the only one that counts, so check it before paying. A cheaper product may include 15 kg of checked baggage and no seat or meal inclusions, which changes the true cost of a trip more than the headline fare does.

- Search Denpasar (DPS) to Perth (PER) on TransNusa’s official website, or through an authorised travel agent. TransNusa said at launch that tickets were sold through authorised agents, so compare both.
- Enter your exact travel dates and check one-way and return options separately, since a one-way fare may not match the return price.
- Open the fare details for each product and note the checked baggage, seat selection, meals and change or refund conditions.
- Compare the final total, including taxes and fees shown before payment, not the base fare.
- Confirm the flight number, departure time and frequency for your date at the point of booking, because the schedule has changed several times since 2025.
Budgeting for the trip
For a family or personal budget, build the estimate from the components rather than the headline. The fare is only one line. Add checked baggage above what your chosen product includes, seat selection if it is not included, meals if your product does not include them, and any travel insurance you decide to buy. Set a fallback budget at the higher end of the fare range you see for your dates, not the lowest one, because launch-era promotional pricing was a starting point rather than a guarantee.
A practical check: if the total for your dates, with the baggage you need, still fits the budget, the route works for you regardless of the 2025 headline. If it does not, a lower fare that only works with a 7 kg carry-on will not save money once you add the checked bag you need.

Neither TransNusa nor Perth Airport has published a current price for this route in the material reviewed for this article, so a live search is the only reliable way to confirm what you will pay.
Use the most recent screen you see, and record the date, because flight prices change within days.
