Transcarent completed its acquisition of Accolade on April 8, 2025, after announcing the deal on January 8, 2025. The combined company places Transcarent’s health navigation and care services alongside Accolade’s health advocacy, expert medical opinions and virtual primary care. The merger itself does not decide what you can use. Access depends on whether your employer or health plan selects these services, and on the terms of your own benefits.

What the combined offering includes
The companies describe the combined offering in three groups. These are company descriptions of what is offered, not a guarantee that every service reaches every member.
Navigation and care
- Transcarent’s AI-powered WayFinding, a navigation tool for finding benefits and care.
- Care experiences for cancer, surgery and weight health.
- A pharmacy-benefit offering.
Clinical support
- Accolade’s health advocacy.
- Expert medical opinions.
- Virtual primary care.
The Experience Store
The combined company describes an Experience Store that brings together point solutions and provider relationships selected by employers and health plans, including local and virtual providers. Partner areas named in the announcement are mental health, diabetes, fertility and musculoskeletal care.
Why the companies say they combined
The companies said the combination would make benefits navigation, clinical guidance and care access easier to use in one place, give clients and members more choice, reduce fragmentation, and improve affordability and outcomes. These are the companies’ stated goals.
#1 Best Overall
In the January 8, 2025 announcement, Transcarent CEO Glen Tullman described what clients told the company: “Our clients – employers and health plans and the people who work for them or who they serve – are telling us that healthcare today is too confusing, too complex, and too costly.” That is Tullman’s account of client feedback, not a measured finding. Transcarent President Snezana Mahon’s post-merger framing was similar in tone: “Together, Transcarent and Accolade are making it easy to get expert clinical guidance and high-quality care on a single, trusted platform.”
The figures and who published them
Every number below comes from the companies’ own announcements. None is an independent measure of results after the merger.
Rank #2
| Figure | Value as reported | Who reported it and when |
|---|---|---|
| Members reached | Over 20 million | Transcarent, April 8, 2025 completion announcement |
| Clients | More than 1,700 employer and health-plan clients | Transcarent, April 8, 2025 completion announcement |
| Transaction value | Approximately $621 million | Transcarent, January 8, 2025 announcement, referenced at completion |
| Price per Accolade share | $7.03 in cash | Transcarent, January 8, 2025 announcement |
No independently verified post-merger savings or health-outcome figure has been published in the sources reviewed for this article. Treat claims about lower costs or better results as the companies’ goals until an independent measure appears.
Comparing what you can use
This is not a head-to-head choice between two independent vendors. Accolade now operates within Transcarent. If you are weighing the services available through your benefits, the useful comparison points are below. The merger materials do not settle most of them for individual members.
Rank #3
| Comparison point | What to look for | What the merger materials establish |
|---|---|---|
| Eligibility | Whether your employer or health plan selected the service | Not stated for individual members; depends on the plan |
| Access channel | How you reach the service, such as a phone line, portal or app | Not stated in the merger announcements |
| Clinical support | Advocacy, expert medical opinions, virtual primary care | Named as part of the combined offering |
| Care categories | Cancer, surgery, weight health, pharmacy benefit | Named as offerings in the April 8, 2025 announcement |
| Partner network | Mental health, diabetes, fertility, musculoskeletal providers | Named as partner areas; provider lists not stated |
| Cost to you | Copays, deductible treatment, whether the service is free | Not stated; plan-specific |
How to check whether you have access
- Open your current benefits summary or plan documents from your employer’s benefits portal or your health plan’s member website. Search for “Transcarent” and “Accolade,” since the names may appear separately.
- Note which services are listed as included. Compare them against the offerings above: navigation, advocacy, expert medical opinions, virtual primary care, pharmacy benefit and care programs.
- Confirm whether each service is an employer-selected point solution or a health-plan benefit, and whether it has eligibility rules.
- Ask your plan administrator what you would pay for each service, including whether any costs apply toward your deductible.
- If a service name in the Terms of Use or in older materials no longer appears in your plan documents, ask whether it has been replaced. Service names and packaging may have changed since the 2025 announcements.
Your employer or health plan is the authority on what you can use. The companies’ announcements describe what the combined company offers, not what your coverage includes.
