No list of affiliate programs can honestly be ranked “highest paying” from advertised rates alone. Commission percentages are calculated on different revenue bases, attach to different products, and last for different periods. A 40% rate can pay less than a 30% rate once those differences are counted. The seven programs below are examples with published terms, listed alphabetically rather than by value, followed by the checks that decide what a referral is actually worth.
What an advertised rate does not tell you
A headline percentage is only one input. Before you can estimate income from any program, you need to know:
- Revenue base: whether the percentage applies to the gross price, to net revenue after refunds and fees, or to something else.
- Duration: whether the commission is a one-time payment, applies only in the first year, or continues for as long as the referred customer stays subscribed.
- Eligible products: which plans, add-ons, or account types qualify.
- Attribution window: how long after a click a sale still counts.
- Reversals: whether refunds and chargebacks cancel the commission.
- Payout threshold and method: the minimum balance before payment and who handles payment.
- Change rights: whether the program can alter rates or terms later.
Consider a hypothetical plan priced at $50 per month. A program paying 30% recurring would pay $15 per month for each referred subscriber who stays, before refunds and before any payout threshold. Ten subscribers who remain for a full year would produce $1,800 gross, which is arithmetic on an assumed price, not a figure any program states. Churn, reversals, and the payout threshold all reduce what reaches you.
The seven programs, compared as advertised
Each row reflects only what the cited page states. Where a cell says “not stated,” the page does not give that term. None of the pages shows a publication date, so confirm the live terms before you publish a link.

Program notes
AlterLab
This is the clearest topical match for a developer-focused audience, since the page names web data, automation, and developer tooling. The affiliate page summary does not give the commission base or attribution window, so read the complete terms before relying on the rate.
HighLevel
The rate is tied to named account types. A referral to a plan outside that list is not covered by the stated 40%, and the recurring language applies to subscription-based add-ons as the policy describes them.
Rank #2
OpBot
The 40% applies “unless otherwise agreed,” so a negotiated arrangement may differ. Because refunds and chargebacks can reverse commissions, a product with high refund rates will pay less than its headline suggests.
Outbyte
The agreement page does not state a commission rate, so no earnings figure can be attached to it. Its terms say the “This Agreement will begin upon our acceptance of your Affiliate application
,” meaning nothing is active until the company accepts your application. The same agreement states that “Outbyte uses a third party to handle all of the tracking and payment.
” Recommend it only where the content genuinely calls for PC troubleshooting or maintenance.

The recurring commission on qualifying paid plans suits publishers whose readers are building SEO workflows. The €50 payout threshold appears in its terms as an example, so check the threshold that applies to your account.
Rank #3
Postcrest
A rate limited to the first year pays less over a long subscription than a recurring rate of the same percentage. Describe it as a first-year commission, not a lifetime one.
Stepflow
The commission base is net recurring revenue, and it continues only while the referred customer stays subscribed. The audience is narrow, so it fits content aimed at coaching businesses rather than general developer or creator readers.
Compliance before you publish a link
- HighLevel’s policy requires compliance with applicable laws, including the FTC Endorsement Guides, so disclosure of the relationship is part of using that link.
- Outbyte’s agreement prohibits deceptive or coercive promotion and misleading resemblance to Outbyte.
- Check platform policies and the disclosure rules that apply where you and your audience are located, since they can differ from the program’s own requirements.
How to check a program before you join
- Open the full agreement or terms page, not only the affiliate landing page.
- Identify the revenue base: gross or net, and whether taxes, refunds, and fees are deducted first.
- List the eligible plans, add-ons, and account types, and confirm your audience would actually buy one of them.
- Record the duration: one-time, first year only, or while the customer stays subscribed.
- Find the attribution window and cookie length. Several programs above do not state one, so ask the program in writing before relying on it.
- Read the rules on refunds and chargebacks, and confirm whether a reversed commission is clawed back from your balance.
- Check the payout threshold, payment method, and whether a third party handles tracking and payment.
- Note whether the program can change its rates or terms, and how you would be notified.
Once these eight checks are complete for each program, the comparison becomes a question of expected value for your audience rather than a question of which headline number is largest.
