8 Healthcare Accounting Software Options in ISG’s 2025 ERP Guide

ISG’s 2025 healthcare ERP guide names eight providers, but it does not rank accounting software alone. Use this qualified shortlist and practical checks to compare fit, reporting, integrations, controls, and cost.

The eight providers named here are a useful shortlist, not a proven ranking of the best healthcare accounting products. Information Services Group (ISG) assessed them in its 2025 Healthcare ERP Buyers Guide, which covers a broader set of financial and operational functions than accounting alone. Its overall leaders were Oracle, SAP S/4HANA, and Workday—but that is ISG’s ERP assessment, not an accounting-only verdict. The right choice depends on your care setting, organization structure, reporting needs, integrations, controls, and budget.

Which eight providers are on the 2025 shortlist?

ISG’s 2025 guide evaluated the following providers. The guide’s scope includes accounting and financial management alongside areas such as compliance, procurement, inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, risk management, and analytics.

Provider or product What the 2025 guide establishes What to confirm before shortlisting
Infor Included in ISG’s healthcare ERP evaluation. Exact product, version, and fit for your care setting.
Microsoft Included in ISG’s healthcare ERP evaluation. Which Microsoft product and configuration would meet your requirements.
Oracle Included in the evaluation; named by ISG as an overall healthcare ERP leader. The relevant finance and healthcare configuration, and whether it fits your needs.
Oracle NetSuite Included as a separate provider entry in ISG’s evaluation. Whether its healthcare capabilities suit your care setting and organizational scale.
Sage Intacct Included in ISG’s evaluation. Sage also describes healthcare-specific finance capabilities. Which features are in the proposed package and how they work in your deployment.
SAP S/4HANA Included in the evaluation; named by ISG as an overall healthcare ERP leader. The relevant finance and healthcare configuration, and whether it fits your needs.
TechnologyOne Included in ISG’s healthcare ERP evaluation. Current product details and availability in your geography.
Workday Included in the evaluation; named by ISG as an overall healthcare ERP leader. The relevant finance and healthcare configuration, and whether it fits your needs.

The guide does not establish a consistent feature score, comparable price, or implementation timeline for these eight. It also does not make the providers interchangeable: an organization should compare proposed products and configurations, not names alone.

How did ISG identify its overall ERP leaders?

ISG named Oracle, SAP S/4HANA, and Workday as overall leaders under its 2025 Healthcare ERP Buyers Guide methodology. ISG says Product Experience accounts for 80% of its evaluation and Customer Experience 20%. Those percentages describe the weighting of the assessment criteria; they are not quality scores, and the leadership finding is not a ranking of accounting software alone.

What should a healthcare organization compare?

Start with the work your finance team must do and the information leaders need to see. A single-location clinic and a multi-entity health system may need very different reporting, consolidation, and approval workflows.

  • Care setting and scale: Identify the kinds of care you provide, number of locations, legal entities, and finance users. Test the system against the organization’s actual complexity rather than a generic healthcare demo.
  • Reporting dimensions: List the views needed for budgeting and management, such as payer, clinician, specialty, procedure, location, or service line. Ask vendors to demonstrate the reports using representative data and show how staff maintain the underlying dimensions.
  • Consolidation and controls: For multiple entities, test shared charts of accounts, consolidation, approval paths, audit trails, and separation of duties. Use realistic transactions and close workflows to see whether the system supports the controls you require.
  • Clinical and operating-system connections: Specify the actual interfaces needed for EMR/EHR, practice management, billing, payroll, inventory, and other existing systems. Ask who builds and supports each interface and how errors or delayed data are handled. Sage describes EMR integration, while ISG identifies interoperability with clinical and billing systems as an ERP consideration; neither statement establishes that every shortlisted configuration will connect to your systems.
  • Security, compliance, and data handling: Determine whether protected health information will be stored in the finance system or an integrated service. Review the proposed deployment’s safeguards, contract terms, any required business associate agreement, and relevant independent attestations. Treat product-level compliance language as a claim to verify against the specific services and contract.
  • Total cost and support: Request written, like-for-like proposals covering licenses, implementation, integrations, data migration, support, and ongoing administration. Confirm which vendor or partner is responsible for each service.

What is established about Sage Intacct?

Sage describes healthcare finance capabilities that combine finance, HR, and EMR information to analyze profitability by site, payer, and service line. It also describes financial management, audit trail, analytics, and consolidation. These are vendor descriptions, not independent comparative testing.

Sage’s healthcare page says, “Sage Intacct healthcare accounting software with Advanced Audit Trail is HIPAA compliant.” Treat that as Sage’s claim, not a substitute for checking the safeguards, covered services, contractual commitments, and any applicable business associate agreement for the deployment you are buying.

Sage’s 2025 vendor checklist describes itself as covering 60 essential features. It can help structure questions, but it is a Sage-produced selection resource, not neutral scoring of competing vendors. A customer testimonial on Sage’s page describes using operational measures such as cost per patient per day in senior care; that is a vendor-published customer account, not an independently verified outcome study.

Is QuickBooks Online an option for a smaller care business?

Intuit Australia markets QuickBooks Online to health and social care businesses. Its Australian material describes functions including patient invoice tracking, stock, supplier payments, team time and pay, and cash-flow management. That regional marketing evidence may help an Australian small-business buyer decide what to investigate, but it does not establish suitability for a hospital or complex multi-entity group.

The same Australian page lists plans starting from A$29 per month and discusses BAS lodgement with the Australian Taxation Office. This is a page-specific figure that may change; it is not a current global price or a like-for-like quote for the eight-provider shortlist.

How should you make the final choice?

  1. Write a requirements list. Record your care setting, entities, locations, reporting dimensions, current systems, approval controls, and security needs.
  2. Screen for fit. Ask each candidate to identify the exact product, edition, configuration, and services that meet each requirement. Remove candidates that cannot address essential workflows.
  3. Run scenario-based demonstrations. Use the same examples for each finalist: a transaction from an operating system, a multi-entity close if relevant, a report by the dimensions you need, and an approval or audit-trail check.
  4. Verify integration and compliance details. Get written answers about interfaces, data flows, safeguards, contractual terms, and responsibilities for implementation and support.
  5. Compare complete proposals. Put recurring and one-time costs, migration, implementation, integrations, support, and administration on the same basis before making a decision.

ISG’s 2025 guide is a starting point for identifying enterprise healthcare ERP providers, not a substitute for this organization-specific comparison.
