There is no trick that raises an ecoATM offer. The price comes from what the kiosk finds when it connects to your phone, so the realistic goal is to make sure the offer reflects your phone accurately and that you avoid preventable reductions or a failed transaction. The five steps below do that. They do not guarantee a higher price, but skipping them is the most common way sellers end up with less than they expected.
Why no shortcut changes the offer
ecoATM says its kiosk connects to the device to confirm make, model, battery life, and condition. Its pricing guidance names model, specific condition, and current secondary-market value as the main factors. Because the kiosk checks the phone itself, an offer built on a misstated model or hidden damage does not stay in your favor. At best it gets corrected at the kiosk; at worst the transaction does not go through. Preparation is the only lever you actually control.
The five steps, in order
1. Confirm the exact model and condition before you go
Know what you are selling before you walk in. On an iPhone, Settings > General > About shows the model name and storage capacity. Then describe the condition honestly: cracked glass, dents, screen defects, or any sign of water exposure.
Two points matter here. ecoATM’s pricing guidance says water damage or a broken LCD may reduce value, and that older devices may be worth less than models with stronger secondary-market demand. Neither of those is something you can fix in an afternoon. ecoATM also does not attach a fixed dollar deduction to each defect in its guidance, so any per-defect figure you find online is an estimate, not a quote.

2. Charge the phone so it powers on
ecoATM’s How it works page states: “Phones that don’t turn on may get less money than initially offered.” Its contact FAQ recommends charging to at least 30% before your visit so the kiosk can identify the phone and give its best possible price. That 30% figure is ecoATM’s own recommendation, not a threshold that has been independently tested. Bring a charging cable that is compatible with your phone, so you can top up if the battery drops during the trip.
3. Sign out of iCloud and remove Activation Lock (Apple devices only)
ecoATM states that Apple devices must be signed out of iCloud and have Activation Lock removed to qualify for the full offer. Do this before you leave home, not at the kiosk. On iOS, the usual sequence is:

- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.
- Tap Find My, then Find My iPhone, and turn it off. You will be asked for your Apple Account password. Turning this off removes Activation Lock.
- Go back to your name, scroll to the bottom, and tap Sign Out.
Menu labels shift slightly between iOS versions, so if a name differs, look for the same function. Back up the phone first, because signing out erases nothing but you will lose access to some data and services on the device once it leaves your hands.
4. Bring valid ID and confirm the kiosk accepts your device
ecoATM’s official process says sellers must be at least 18 and bring a valid driver’s license or state ID. Requirements can differ by location, so check current local rules before you travel. Kiosk availability and which devices a given location accepts can also change, so confirm both before you make the trip rather than after you have arrived.

5. Review the final offer and any BonusPay terms before you accept
You can decline at any point before accepting. ecoATM’s Post Inspection FAQ says: “Once the offer is accepted at the kiosk, you will be unable to retrieve your phone.” Read the final amount on screen and make sure it matches what you expected before you confirm.
BonusPay is an optional, possible additional digital payment offered after inspection. It depends on the phone’s current condition and functionality, so treat it as conditional rather than as part of the guaranteed price.

Deciding whether to accept
An accurate kiosk offer is only useful if you know whether it beats your other options. The comparison has to use the same phone in the same condition. The evidence available here does not establish a current winner between ecoATM and other selling routes, so run the comparison yourself with these criteria:

| Effort and logistics | In-person visit, shipping, packaging, or listing work required |
| Price certainty | Whether the price can change after the device is inspected |
| Convenience | Travel time and how many steps remain after you accept |
If the kiosk’s final number is close to what you could net elsewhere and you value a same-day, in-person transaction, accepting is reasonable. If the final number falls well short after the inspection, declining keeps the phone in your hands.
