Second Dinner, the studio behind MARVEL SNAP, became a strategic investor in W4 Games under a multi-year partnership announced August 7, 2024. W4 said it would help the studio adopt Godot Engine for a planned game. The companies did not disclose the investment amount, name the game, or give a release date.
What the partnership includes
W4 Games said the agreement combines Second Dinner’s investment in W4 with support for the studio’s use of Godot Engine. W4 described its role as accelerating that adoption; the announcement did not spell out specific services, funding terms, or development milestones. W4 Games’ August 7, 2024 announcement called the arrangement a multi-year strategic partnership.
What is known about the investment—and what is not
Second Dinner was identified as a strategic investor, but the companies did not publish an investment amount, ownership share, valuation, or other financial terms. That means the announcement establishes a strategic relationship, not its monetary scale or the size of Second Dinner’s stake.
What Second Dinner said about the planned game
The announcement did not identify a title, genre, platform, release window, or development milestone. W4 described the project as the “most ambitious Godot game yet”; that is the company’s characterization, not a measured comparison with other Godot games.

Second Dinner Chief Development Officer Ben Brode said the studio was excited to use Godot, describing it as an open-source, flexible engine with a vibrant community. W4 co-CEO Nicola Farronato said the partnership fit W4’s aim of making Godot available to major developers. Those comments express the companies’ rationale; they do not establish how the game will perform or what the deal will mean for Godot’s wider adoption.
Godot and W4 Games have different roles
Godot is the free, open-source game engine identified in the announcement. W4 Games described its business as providing products and services to help developers build and commercialize games; a GodotCon Amsterdam session listing dated April 23, 2026, describes W4’s offering as B2B products and services. The partnership is therefore not an announcement that Godot itself has become a paid product or that Second Dinner is investing in the engine’s open-source project.

W4’s 2024 announcement also said more than 2,000 commercial Godot games had been published in 2023. That figure is W4’s claim; the release did not provide a dataset or methodology.

The April 23, 2026 GodotCon session listing includes Second Dinner among W4 Games’ enterprise Godot users. It does not say whether the planned game has shipped, identify a title, or report a new partnership milestone. A GamesBeat report published August 7, 2024, and updated June 18, 2025, reported the central partnership terms, but the available details do not establish the game’s status.
