Riverside County prosecutors dropped the rape charge against Gravity Payments founder Dan Price on May 27, 2025, saying they could not pursue it beyond a reasonable doubt, the Los Angeles Times reported. Price had been indicted in 2024 and denied the allegation. He had not entered a plea before prosecutors dismissed the charge.
Was Dan Price charged with rape in California?
Yes. A Riverside County grand jury indicted Price in September 2024 on one count of rape of an unconscious victim, according to MyNorthwest’s October 2024 report. The case concerned an alleged 2021 incident in Palm Springs. An indictment is a formal accusation; it is not a finding of guilt.
The case had been under review earlier. In 2022, Palm Springs police submitted it to the Riverside County district attorney’s office, which said it had not yet decided whether to file charges. Price called the allegations false and said he was stepping aside from his Gravity Payments duties to fight them, according to reporting at the time.
