QPR’s £20.8m Loss: What the Accounts Say—and What Cifuentes Actually Said

QPR1st’s summary reports a £20.8m QPR loss for 2024/25. The figures, Cifuentes’ 2025 farewell and a possible historical Crystal Palace reference are separate stories.

QPR1st’s summary of Queens Park Rangers’ 2024/25 accounts reports a £20.8 million loss, alongside £28 million in turnover and a £5.7 million rise in expenses. The figures do not establish a link to former manager Martí Cifuentes or to a Crystal Palace move: those are separate stories, and the available Cifuentes comments were not reactions to the accounts.

What QPR’s 2024/25 figures show

QPR1st, the club supporters’ trust, published its summary of the 2024/25 accounts on February 22, 2026. It reports an annual loss of £20.8 million—often rounded to £20 million in headlines—turnover of £28 million, and expenses that rose by £5.7 million. These are figures as reported by QPR1st; the primary accounts have not been independently checked here.

The summary says turnover increased as well as expenses. It does not provide enough detail to reconcile the loss across individual accounting categories, so the headline figure should be read as the trust’s reported summary rather than a standalone audit of QPR’s accounts. QPR1st

How QPR1st frames the loss

QPR1st says the club ranked 15th among Championship sides for turnover and 14th for wage costs. The opened summary does not explain the ranking methodology. The trust’s view is that a finish above 14th could count as a successful season relative to QPR’s income, and that the club remained within the financial fair play (FFP) threshold when losses over three years were considered. That is the trust’s interpretation, not an independently verified regulatory assessment.

A single-year loss and a three-year FFP assessment answer different questions: the first describes the reported result for 2024/25, while the second is the trust’s account of how the multi-year threshold applies. The summary does not provide enough underlying detail to independently recalculate that assessment.

Did Martí Cifuentes react to the £20.8m loss?

No reaction to the accounts is established by the available reporting. Cifuentes left QPR in June 2025, before the trust published its accounts summary. BBC Sport reported that he had two wins in his final 12 matches in charge. In a farewell message reported on June 25, 2025, he said he left with a “heart full of gratitude”—a sentiment addressed to QPR supporters, not a comment on the later financial figures. QPR’s July 2025 board update said Cifuentes had been placed on gardening leave as the club prepared for the 2025/26 season. Those dated reports establish what happened around his departure; they do not establish his current employment status. QPR’s July 2025 board update

What does “figure leaves for Crystal Palace” mean?

The phrase is ambiguous, and the available evidence does not confirm which person it refers to. Eberechi Eze is a possible historical reference: he moved from QPR to Crystal Palace in 2020. That transfer predates both the 2024/25 accounts and Cifuentes’ 2025 departure, so it should not be presented as a current move connected to either event. A transfer fee is not included here because the reviewed evidence does not establish one through a primary transfer source.

How to read the three stories together

  • The accounts: QPR1st’s February 2026 summary reports a £20.8 million loss for 2024/25, with £28 million in turnover and expenses up £5.7 million.
  • Cifuentes: he departed in June 2025; his reported farewell was not a response to the accounts.
  • Crystal Palace: Eze’s possible connection is a historical 2020 transfer, not evidence of a new departure tied to the loss.

For the underlying financial position, the primary club accounts and any later official updates are the sources to check; the figures and FFP framing above are specifically those reported by QPR1st.
