The Naval Dockyard Apprentices School, Visakhapatnam, advertised 320 one-year ITI apprenticeship places for its 2026–27 batch. Applications for that intake are no longer open: the notice set 2 January 2026 as the receipt deadline, and its scheduled examination and training dates have also passed. Check official Navy recruitment notices and Apprenticeship India for any newer announcement before acting.

How the application was to be submitted
For this intake, applicants first registered through Apprenticeship India under NAPS, then mailed printed documents to the school. The process in the notice was:
- Register on the Apprenticeship India portal and complete the candidate profile.
- Search for establishment “NAVAL DOCKYARD,” ID E08152800002, select Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, and apply for one eligible trade.
- Print the completed profile and two copies of the hall ticket. Attach a recent passport photograph to each hall-ticket copy.
- Send the profile, hall tickets, supporting documents, and check-off list to the Officer-in-Charge for Apprenticeship, Naval Dockyard Apprentices School, VM Naval Base S.O., P.O., Visakhapatnam – 530 014, Andhra Pradesh.
This is the procedure specified for the now-closed 2026–27 intake, not confirmation that the same process or address applies to a future notification. For a new batch, follow its own notice and the current Apprenticeship India establishment listing.

Selection and examination format
Shortlisting for the written examination was based on SSC/Matric and ITI marks in a 70:30 ratio. The notice described a two-hour, English-language OMR test with 100 multiple-choice questions, one mark per question and no negative marking.
| Subject | Questions |
|---|---|
| Mathematics | 35 |
| General science | 35 |

The trade- and category-wise final merit list was to use written-examination marks. Ties were to be resolved first in favour of the older candidate, then alphabetically by name. Shortlisted candidates were also required to complete certificate verification and a medical examination.

Stipend, documents and employment expectations
The advertised monthly stipend range was ₹9,600 to ₹10,560. Selected candidates were to receive a one-year apprenticeship contract under the Apprentices Act. The notice explicitly said the dockyard was not obliged to offer employment afterward and that completing the apprenticeship did not create a right to a job.
Documents named in the notice include SSC/Matric and ITI mark certificates, Aadhaar, and applicable caste/OBC, disability, and armed-forces certificates. It warned that incomplete applications would not be registered; applicants without valid community certificates would be considered unreserved. Apprentices were also told they would receive a list of drawing instruments to procure at their own expense. Wait for the school’s list before buying anything.

Protect yourself from application fraud
The advertisement states: “Candidates are informed that no money is required to be paid to anyone who-so-ever for this enrollment.” Do not pay an agent or intermediary for enrollment. Since the 2026–27 application period has closed, treat anyone soliciting money to secure a place in that intake with particular caution.
Where to check for a newer intake
The available 2026–27 copy is on a third-party job-alert site. A Navy-hosted PDF located for the previous 2025–26 batch cannot verify updates or dates for the 2026–27 batch. Check the Join Indian Navy recruitment notices and Apprenticeship India for an official, current announcement before relying on any dates, vacancy count, eligibility terms, or submission instructions.
