McDonald’s has officially tied celebrity names to meals and promotions since at least 1992, but the available company records do not establish a complete worldwide list. The timeline below covers documented examples, separates U.S. campaigns from regional ones, and notes where McDonald’s sources do not give a precise date or menu.
Dated celebrity meals and partnerships
Here, “officially endorsed” means McDonald’s publicly identified a person as part of a named meal, Famous Order, or promotional partnership. A celebrity appearing in an ad alone is not enough to establish one of those arrangements.
1992 — Michael Jordan (United States; predecessor named by McDonald’s)
In its 2020 Travis Scott announcement, McDonald’s said the last celebrity name featured on its menu before Scott’s was Michael Jordan’s in 1992. That announcement does not specify the McJordan item’s launch date or menu, so those details cannot be confirmed from this source. McDonald’s announcement.
September 2020 — Travis Scott (United States; named meal)
McDonald’s announced the Travis Scott Meal on September 3, 2020. It was available at participating U.S. restaurants from September 8 through October 4. The meal consisted of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese with bacon and lettuce, medium fries with BBQ sauce, and Sprite. McDonald’s described it as its first celebrity-named menu item since 1992. 2021 — BTS (nearly 50 participating markets; signature order)
McDonald’s called the BTS Meal its first celebrity signature order available to customers worldwide and said it would roll out in nearly 50 participating markets beginning May 26, 2021. The U.S. version included 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, fries, Coke, and Sweet Chili and Cajun dipping sauces. The participating markets and availability varied, so the U.S. contents should not be assumed to describe every market. McDonald’s corporate feature and McDonald’s U.S. details.
February 2023 — Cardi B and Offset (United States; duo meal)
McDonald’s announced its first celebrity duo meal on February 13, 2023, with availability beginning February 14 at participating U.S. restaurants nationwide. It paired Cardi B’s cheeseburger, BBQ sauce, and large Coca-Cola with Offset’s Quarter Pounder with Cheese and large Hi-C Orange Lavaburst, plus large fries and an apple pie to share. June 2023 — DJ Snake (France; Famous Order and wider promotion)
McDonald’s France described DJ Snake’s collaboration as the first Famous Order in France. It included a Double Cheese, fries, sugar-free Coca-Cola, and caramel Sundae, alongside an original song, advertising, and a Pardon My French capsule collection. This was a France-specific campaign, not proof of a complete global sequence. McDonald’s France announcement.
Other official Famous Orders with incomplete dates
McDonald’s UK and Ireland’s Famous Orders page retrospectively includes several U.S. promotions but does not provide enough information in the reviewed page text to place each precisely in a dated chronology or describe its menu. It also identifies the first Famous Order in the UK and Ireland without stating the year in the reviewed text. McDonald’s UK and Ireland Famous Orders page.

How to read this timeline
This is a chronology of examples confirmed by the cited McDonald’s sources, not an exhaustive inventory of every celebrity campaign worldwide. The source record varies: some announcements give dates, participating markets, and meal contents, while the regional Famous Orders page lists additional names without the same level of detail. “First” also depends on the market and format: McDonald’s described Jordan as the prior celebrity name on its menu before Scott, BTS as its first signature order available across nearly 50 markets, Cardi B and Offset as its first celebrity duo meal, and Stormzy and DJ Snake as firsts in their respective regional Famous Orders programs.
