The Walmart Listeria notice identified in the current-period official listings is for a prepared soup kit—not fresh vegetables. A separate 2026 Walmart lettuce recall concerned Cyclospora, a different pathogen. The listed product dates have passed as of October 8, 2026, so these notices do not establish that either item is currently on sale.
Which Walmart product was recalled for Listeria?
The FDA notice concerns Kettle Cuisine’s 14-ounce Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kit, distributed exclusively to select Walmart stores from June 30 through July 7, 2026. The product’s UPC is 194346474004 and its use-by date is August 22, 2026. The company initiated the recall after routine testing produced a presumptive positive for Listeria monocytogenes. FDA reported no confirmed illnesses associated with this product when the notice was published. FDA’s soup-kit recall notice has the product details.
Those distribution and use-by dates are in the past. The notice is not evidence that the soup kit remains on Walmart shelves.
Was the 2026 Walmart lettuce recall for Listeria?
No. The 2026 notice for Marketside lettuce involved Cyclospora, not Listeria. FDA identified Marketside Iceberg Salad in 12-ounce and 24-ounce packages, and Shredded Lettuce in 8-ounce and 16-ounce packages. Best-if-used-by dates ran from July 18 through August 3, 2026. FDA said those dates had passed and recalled product should no longer be available in stores or restaurants. The investigation linked the outbreak to iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico. See the FDA’s Cyclospora investigation for notice details.

Walmart’s recall listings include both the lettuce notice and the August Marketside soup-kit notice. Their appearance on the same retailer recall page does not mean they involve the same product or pathogen.
How to check whether produce at home is affected
- Identify the exact item. Check the full product name and package size. A Walmart or Marketside label alone does not establish that an item is recalled.
- Compare the identifying details. For the soup kit, check UPC 194346474004 and use-by date August 22, 2026. For the lettuce, compare the product type, package size, and best-if-used-by date against the FDA notice.
- Check the current notice. Recall pages can be updated. Review the current FDA soup-kit notice, the FDA lettuce investigation, and Walmart’s recall page.
- Follow the instructions for a matching item. Use the steps in the relevant official notice rather than relying on a retailer or brand name by itself.
Why older Walmart produce recalls do not change these notices
Past recalls may explain why searches turn up Walmart produce and Listeria together, but they do not establish a current fresh-vegetable recall. In 2020, FDA published a Country Fresh recall involving cut or sliced fruit distributed by Walmart after possible Listeria contamination was found on nearby packing equipment. An FDA listing also records a 2023 recall of whole peaches, plums, and nectarines for possible Listeria contamination. Neither notice identifies a current Walmart fresh-vegetable Listeria recall.
