What was Goldune?
Treehugger’s January 28, 2021 feature described Goldune as an online retailer that had opened roughly three months earlier. Founder Azora Zoe Paknad’s stated aim was to make sustainable shopping feel more welcoming to people who did not identify with strict zero-waste ideals or the imagery often associated with environmental lifestyles.

How did Goldune frame sustainable shopping?
Paknad’s approach, as presented by Treehugger, emphasized progress on an individual’s own terms rather than a test of whether someone was perfectly zero-waste. The profile quoted her: “Shopping won’t save the world, Azora Zoe Paknad says, ‘but if you can do a little bit better by the planet on your own terms, wouldn’t you?’”

That framing matters because sustainable purchasing claims can sound like an all-or-nothing standard. Goldune’s reported pitch was instead to make lower-waste or differently sourced options easier to find, while acknowledging that buying products by itself does not solve environmental problems.
What did product pages say about disposal?
Treehugger reported that product listings included an “End of Life” description with guidance on how to dispose of items after use, including packaging. Paknad described this as a way to extend responsibility beyond shipping by telling customers what could be done with both the product and its packaging. The feature documents this as a launch-era site practice; it does not verify the current website’s product-page information.

Those percentages are figures reported in 2021, not current rates or an independently audited certification. The profile, as summarized in its reporting, does not establish the calculation method, denominator, or verification process, so the figures should be read as an attributed description rather than a verified measure.

The available reporting establishes Goldune’s launch-era proposition but does not confirm its present-day status. Goldune.com could not be fetched when followed from the Treehugger feature, returning a 502 error; that access failure is not evidence that the business has closed. The LinkedIn company profile lists a 2020 founding and specialties, but those profile details may be stale and do not settle current operating status.
