Robots.net’s 2023 article ranked PapersOwl first, followed by Paperell, StudyDriver, and Edusson. That is the article’s historical ranking—not an independently verified finding or a current recommendation. Its service descriptions and claims about quality, pricing, deadlines, originality, and reliability should likewise be read as claims made on the page, not proven outcomes.
What the 2022/23 list ranked
Rubie Mayhew’s Robots.net article, “Best Essay Writing Services On Reddit [2022/23]”, was published on 7 April 2023 and modified on 13 December 2023. It presented this order:
- PapersOwl, labeled “The Most Popular & Upvoted Essay Service”
- Paperell, described as “Known as the Most Acceptable Resource”
- StudyDriver, presented as a service with an online reputation
- Edusson, described as a quick-delivery service
The article discussed essay, thesis, coursework, research, and related writing services, as well as ordering workflows and provider features. These are descriptions and judgments in a 2023 article; the page does not establish that the providers still offer the same services or terms.
How much confidence should you place in the ranking?
The page says its team compared options and read reviews, but it does not provide an auditable comparison method, a reproducible sample of Reddit posts, or independent performance testing. It also does not establish that the people behind the posts it discusses were verified customers. Its ranking therefore should not be treated as a measured comparison of service quality.

One dated thread in r/CollegeStudents uses the query wording “Best Essay Writing Service Reddit 2022”; a discussion in r/studylevel includes named recommendations and positive endorsements. Those posts are user-generated discussion, not independent verification. Phrases such as “from someone who actually tried it” express a reader’s desire for firsthand advice; they do not show that any particular recommendation is genuine or representative.
What the article says about each service
Read the descriptions below as statements attributed to the Robots.net article during its 2023 publication and update period—not as current provider information or verified results.
PapersOwl
Robots.net placed PapersOwl first and used the label “The Most Popular & Upvoted Essay Service.” The article’s placement does not independently establish popularity, the validity of votes, or the quality of completed work.
Paperell
The article placed Paperell second and described it as “Known as the Most Acceptable Resource.” It did not supply an auditable basis that would let a reader reproduce or independently assess that judgment.

StudyDriver
Robots.net described StudyDriver as having an online reputation and attributed free samples and tools to it, including a plagiarism checker, a citation builder for MLA, APA, and Harvard, and a title generator. The article does not establish whether those resources remain available or whether their output is accurate today.
Edusson
The article placed Edusson fourth and characterized it as a quick-delivery service. That description is not evidence of a current deadline, a guaranteed delivery time, or consistent performance.
Why the sponsored Reddit roundup needs a separate label
A related Pittsburgh City Paper roundup, “5 Best Essay Writing Services Reddit Users Recommend in 2023,” is explicitly labeled sponsored content and says it was commissioned and paid for by PCP Sponsor. It lists providers, prices, and positive claims about quality, speed, privacy, and guarantees. Those statements are commercial claims, not independent comparative test results, and its historical prices should not be used as current rates.
The same sponsored page cautions that many subreddits dedicated to writing services are affiliated with academic-writing companies and advises readers not to rely on those recommendations. Treat that as a caution made by the page itself, not as an independently verified finding about every subreddit.

How to assess a recommendation before spending money
If you are evaluating a provider based on online discussion, separate evidence about a service from marketing language and anonymous opinion. These checks can help you judge what a recommendation actually supports:
- Check the date and context. A specific, dated account is easier to evaluate than a generic endorsement, but detail alone does not prove a post is independent or based on actual use.
- Look for evidence, not vote totals. Upvotes, repeated praise, and promotional posts are weak evidence of typical service quality.
- Verify the price and deadline directly. Use a provider’s current terms and note the currency, location, academic level, word or page basis, and requested deadline. Do not carry over prices from a 2022/23 sponsored roundup.
- Read the privacy policy. Understand what assignment material, account details, and payment information are collected and retained. Do not rely on an anonymity or confidentiality promise without current written support.
- Read revision and refund terms in full. Check the deadline for requesting changes, what counts as a revision, exclusions, and refund conditions. A marketing reference to a “guarantee” is not the full set of terms.
Consider academic integrity before using a writing service
There is an important difference between getting help to learn and commissioning work to submit as your own. Tutoring, feedback on a draft you wrote, proofreading, and formatting may serve different purposes from purchasing a completed essay. Whether a particular form of help is permitted depends on your course or institution’s rules; the sources cited here do not determine those rules for you.
When you need practical support, look first for resources that help you develop your own work—such as tutoring, feedback, citation guidance, and sample materials—when those uses comply with your course requirements. Robots.net attributed citation and writing tools to StudyDriver in 2023, but did not establish their current availability or accuracy.
