Did BlockDAG, XRP, BNB and Toncoin Deliver 2025’s Best Crypto Returns?

The cited 2025 figures show a full-year gain for BNB, a first-quarter result for XRP, year-end prices for XRP, BNB and Toncoin, and BlockDAG project milestones. They do not prove these were the four best-performing cryptoassets of the year.

The available figures do not establish that BlockDAG (BDAG), XRP, BNB and Toncoin were 2025’s four best-performing cryptocurrencies—or provide enough comparable full-year returns to rank all four. They do show that BNB gained 23.0% for the year in CoinGecko’s annual report. The other cited figures cover a quarter, a single day or project milestones, not a comparable 2025 annual return.

What the 2025 figures show for each coin

The figures below come from sources with different time periods and purposes. They are useful evidence about individual assets, but they cannot be lined up as a four-coin annual performance ranking.

Asset What the cited source reports What that figure establishes
BNB CoinGecko reports a 23.0% gain for 2025 and a 14.4% decline in Q4 2025. CoinGecko’s 2025 Annual Crypto Industry Report A full-year gain and a separate quarterly decline, according to CoinGecko. The Q4 loss does not cancel or redefine the annual figure.
XRP CoinGecko reports a 0.5% gain in Q1 2025, while Bitcoin fell 11.8% that quarter. CoinGecko’s 2025 Q1 report XRP’s result for the first quarter only—not its full-year return.
Toncoin (TON) CoinMarketCap’s historical snapshot lists TON at $1.66 on December 31, 2025. CoinMarketCap’s December 31, 2025 snapshot A price on one date, not the change in price over 2025.
BlockDAG (BDAG) BlockDAG’s roadmap says its X30 and X100 ASIC miners were tested and working, and marks both as completed in 2025. BlockDAG’s mainnet roadmap A project-reported development milestone, not a BDAG annual return or an independent verification of performance.

CoinMarketCap’s same December 31 snapshot lists BNB at $863.26 and XRP at $1.8400. Like TON’s quoted price, each is a single-day price; none shows how much the asset gained or lost across the year. See the snapshot.

Why these numbers cannot support a “best-performing” ranking

A return ranking needs the same measurement rules for every asset. A quarterly percentage for XRP cannot be compared directly with BNB’s annual percentage, and an end-of-year quote alone cannot show either asset’s annual return. Project milestones are a different kind of evidence altogether.

Even if the intended comparison is limited to these four, the cited figures do not give a matched full-year return for all four. The claim that they were the four best performers across the wider crypto market is even broader: it requires a defined comparison universe and comparable data for assets beyond these four.

What a fair comparison requires

  • One window: use the same start and end timestamps, with the timezone stated.
  • One data basis: use the same market-data provider and quote currency for every asset.
  • One return definition: specify whether the comparison is price return or total return, and how staking rewards or token-supply changes are handled.
  • Consistent inclusion rules: decide how to treat assets with presales, limited trading history or a shorter period of market availability.
  • A defined meaning of “best”: state whether the ranking covers only BDAG, XRP, BNB and TON or the entire crypto market.

For a price-return comparison, a basic calculation is (end price − start price) ÷ start price, using the same currency and matching timestamps for each asset. That calculation does not include staking rewards unless the chosen method explicitly adds them. The source figures available here do not supply enough matched start- and end-period data to calculate that comparison for all four.

How strong was the wider crypto market in 2025?

CoinGecko’s annual retrospective reports that total crypto market capitalization fell 10.4% year over year to $3.0 trillion at the end of 2025. It also reports Bitcoin down 6.4% for the year, while BNB finished up 23.0%. These provide market context, but they do not establish that BNB—or any of the four named assets—ranked among the year’s top performers across the market. CoinGecko’s annual report.

What BlockDAG’s roadmap does—and does not—tell investors

BlockDAG’s roadmap also marks trading milestones for LBank, BitMart and Coinstore as completed on March 5, 2026, and lists expanded exchange listings dated March 10, 2026. Those dates are after 2025. The roadmap is the project’s own account of its milestones; it does not supply a comparable BDAG price-return calculation, independently verify the miner testing, or establish 2025 liquidity or investment performance.
