The $130–172 million figure was presented as a forecast, not a box-office result—and the film has already opened. The page carrying that range, published by DocumentaryTube on March 10, 2026, does not identify a forecaster or explain its method. The Associated Press reported a $122 million opening in the United States and Canada on July 13, 2025, citing studio estimates. The figures are not directly comparable without a defined territory, period, and accounting basis.
What the $130–172 million figure means
DocumentaryTube’s March 10, 2026, headline says “‘Superman’ Now Eyeing $130-172 Million Box Office Opening Weekend”. Its page gives the range but does not name a tracking firm or explain how the estimate was calculated. Treat it as a forecast quoted by that page—not as verified ticket revenue or a current prediction.
The release timeline makes the headline’s forward-looking wording outdated. DC lists the film’s North American theatrical release as July 11, 2025, with international release beginning July 9, 2025, on its official film page.
Forecast versus reported opening
| Figure | What it describes | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| $130–172 million | Opening-weekend forecast range; territory and accounting basis are not defined on the cited page. | DocumentaryTube, March 10, 2026; the page does not name a forecaster or show its methodology. Source |
| $122 million | Reported opening in the United States and Canada. | Associated Press, July 13, 2025, citing studio estimates; this is not described here as a final audited result. Source |
The AP figure is a North American opening reported after the film’s July 11 theatrical debut. The forecast page does not establish that its range uses the same territory, weekend dates, or accounting basis. It is therefore not possible to calculate a reliable forecast miss or say the figures measure precisely the same thing.

What later worldwide-gross reporting adds
Warner Bros. Japan’s September 19, 2025, home-entertainment announcement said the film had passed $600 million worldwide as of August 25, citing Box Office Mojo. That dated worldwide gross is a separate measure from an opening weekend and is not a current total. Read the announcement.
