Add an external bank account for a Chase transfer or payment
Chase’s mobile instructions use the label “Add an external account” for linking a non-Chase bank account. You’ll need to choose the bank, accept the terms, sign in to that bank, and select the account you want to link.
- Sign in to the Chase Mobile app.
- Swipe left on a checking account and tap Transfer.
- In the pop-up menu, tap Manage external accounts. If you don’t have a checking account, Chase says you can swipe left on a loan and tap Pay.
- Tap Add an external account and search for your bank.
- Select the bank, tap Next, and accept the terms and conditions.
- Sign in to your account at the other bank and tap Next.
- Select the account to link, review the details, and tap Next, then Done.
Chase says the linked account will be available the next time you make a transfer or payment. Its instructions do not promise that every bank is supported or specify how quickly a connection will be established. If your bank is not listed or linking fails, contact Chase for help with your account.
If you mean an account you already opened with Chase
Chase describes access as online-banking enrollment, rather than a separate in-app “add account” step. On Chase.com, choose Not enrolled? Sign up now. After enrolling, download Chase Mobile and sign in with the same username and password. See Chase’s account-access FAQ.

Choose a different linking route for a different purpose

Protect your sign-in and manage shared access
For third-party apps, Chase says you sign in directly with Chase through a secure window; in that flow, the third-party app does not see your Chase username or password. You choose which accounts to share and can later review or remove access in Linked apps. Before signing in, check that the window is at Chase.com or that you are using the Chase Mobile app. Chase Connect also notes that access may continue until disconnected and that changes at a provider can require reconnecting. Chase also describes trusted devices, passkeys, and additional sign-in verification as security options in the app or on Chase.com. Details are in its security guidance.
