In the Chase Mobile app, sign in, tap the tile for the account you need, then tap “Show details.” The dropdown shows that account’s routing number and account number. Make sure you select the account involved in your payment and distinguish the two numbers before using them.

Know which number you need
A routing number is a nine-digit number that identifies a U.S. bank or credit union in a financial transaction. An account number identifies your specific account; you can have different account numbers for different accounts at the same bank. Routing numbers are commonly used for direct deposit, bill payments, and other electronic payments. Chase explains the distinction in its guide to routing numbers on checks.

Because large banks may use multiple routing numbers, use the number shown for the account tied to your task rather than choosing one from a generic online list.

On a paper check
On a Chase check, the routing number is the first nine digits at the bottom left. The account number follows it, then the check number. See Chase’s routing and account number information.
With Chase Digital Assistant
Chase says its Digital Assistant can help find account and routing numbers and is available in the Chase Mobile app on iOS and Android. If its icon is missing, Chase advises making sure the app is up to date. The assistant does not currently serve Private Bank or Business Banking customers, or customers who have both personal and business accounts. Details are on Chase’s Digital Assistant support page.

Handle the account details carefully
Before entering either number into a deposit or payment setup, confirm that the account shown is the one you intend to use and that you have copied the correct field. Chase advises keeping account numbers safe; share them only where needed for a legitimate banking transaction.
