The Osprey Sojourn 80L and 60L are travel-oriented options with removable, deployable harnesses; High Sierra’s All Around is a general-purpose wheeled backpack with stated dimensions of 20 × 14 × 11.25 inches. None should be assumed to meet an airline’s carry-on rules without checking the packed bag against that carrier’s current limits.

Which bag fits your trip?
Choose the Sojourn 80L for a large load
Osprey lists the Sojourn 80 as an 80-liter wheeled travel pack with a removable, deployable AirScape harness and hipbelt, 110 mm wheels, and a HighRoad chassis. It also lists compression features, interior organization, and a luggage registration service. Osprey says the wheels and chassis are designed for rough terrain and load stability; those are design claims, not independently verified durability or performance results. Its capacity makes it a checked-bag-oriented choice, not a carry-on recommendation.
Choose the Sojourn 60L for a middle-size checked bag
The Sojourn 60 has 60 liters of stated capacity, a removable, deployable AirScape harness and hipbelt, 90 mm wheels, a lightweight HighRoad chassis, and compression features. Osprey positions it as a middle size for travelers checking a bag. Compare its actual external dimensions and packed weight with your route and carrier before buying.

Consider the High Sierra All Around for general-purpose use
High Sierra describes the All Around as a wheeled backpack for travel, school, or commuting, with listed dimensions of 20.0 × 14.0 × 11.25 inches. The cited product information does not establish its capacity or the details of its carry harness, so inspect those points if you expect to carry it on your back. Its dimensions alone do not guarantee acceptance as cabin baggage.
Investigate the Sojourn 45L if cabin size matters
A secondary comparison calls the Osprey Sojourn Wheeled Travel Pack 45L carry-on sized and describes a chassis with a stowaway harness. That is a starting point, not a guarantee: confirm the current model’s manufacturer dimensions and compare them with the airline’s limits for the particular flight.

What to check before choosing
Capacity and external dimensions answer different questions
Capacity, measured in liters, indicates interior volume; it does not tell you whether a bag fits in an overhead bin. External dimensions include the wheels and other protrusions that may count toward an airline’s size limit. Check both, and account for the bag’s packed shape rather than relying on a generic “carry-on” label.
Make sure the backpack mode works for you
Find out whether shoulder straps and a hipbelt deploy, stow, or detach, then consider how you will carry the bag when it is loaded. A removable harness can reduce exposed straps while rolling, but it is useful only if the harness fits you and the packed weight is manageable. If possible, assess the fit with a realistic load before committing to a long walk or transfer.

- Standard rolling backpack with no padded compartments
- Front pocket with organizer, side mesh pockets for water bottles and umbrellas
- Adjustable shoulder straps. Inline double wheels with stabilizing feet
- Aluminum telescoping handle. Pull up to extend. When fully extended, the handle locks into place. Push down to retract handle.

Match the wheels and chassis to your route
Wheel size and chassis design matter when your route includes rough pavement, stairs, or other surfaces where rolling may be awkward. The Sojourn models have different listed wheel sizes, and Osprey makes design claims about their chassis and terrain use. Those specifications do not establish how a bag will perform on your route; a backpack mode may help where wheels cannot.
Check organization, protection, and service terms
Compare pocket layout, compression, document or laptop storage, and protection for the items you plan to pack. Osprey lists interior organization and compression features for the Sojourn 80 and compression features for the 60; confirm the exact configuration and current product details before purchase. Verify warranty, repair, and replacement-part terms directly with the manufacturer rather than assuming they are unchanged.
How to verify airline fit
- Look up the current cabin-bag size and weight limits for each airline on your itinerary, including any connecting carrier.
- Find the manufacturer’s current external dimensions for the exact model and size you plan to buy; include wheels, handles, and other protrusions where the airline’s rules require it.
- Pack the bag as you intend to travel, then check its dimensions and weight in that configuration. Soft-sided bags can bulge when full.
- Compare the packed bag with the airline’s rules for the fare and route. If it exceeds a limit or the rules are unclear, contact the airline before relying on it as cabin baggage.
- If it does not meet the cabin limit, decide whether checking it works for your trip or whether a smaller model is needed.
Airline acceptance can vary by carrier, route, fare, and packed configuration. A model’s capacity or a retailer’s “carry-on” description is not a substitute for checking the current rules for your booking.
