The best men’s synthetic wallet for everyday use is the one whose documented material, layout and care requirements fit how you carry it—not simply the one labeled “vegan” or “faux leather.” Those terms cover different constructions, and available manufacturer pages do not establish a reliable head-to-head durability ranking. Compare the exact materials and features, then treat durability language as a product-specific claim.
What “synthetic leather” means on a wallet
“Synthetic leather,” “faux leather” and “vegan leather” are broad labels, not a single material specification. Manufacturer listings show substantial differences: polyurethane (PU), polyester with a PU coating, leather-like nylon and a plant-based material described as made from apple residue. Check the stated composition and every listed component; a synthetic exterior does not necessarily mean the whole wallet is animal-free.
- PU: Billabong describes its Dimension bifold as 100% polyurethane. Billabong’s product listing
- Polyester with PU coating: Sandro lists 71% polyester and 29% polyurethane coating for its synthetic-leather wallet, while the body lining is listed as cow. Sandro’s product page
- Nylon: Mohop describes its leather-like wallet material as 100% nylon. Mohop’s product page
- Plant-based material: Ashoka Paris describes its Uppeal material as made from apple residue. This is a distinct material example, not evidence that PU or PVC wallets are plant-based. Ashoka Paris men’s wallet collection
These descriptions help identify what you are buying; they do not by themselves prove how long a wallet will last.
How to compare wallets for everyday use
Match the layout to what you carry
Count the card slots and compartments you will actually use, and check whether the wallet has a separate bill section, coin pocket or ID window. Extra organization can add bulk, so compare the dimensions as well as the slot count. Published examples vary: Billabong lists six card slots, a zip-up coin pocket and a mesh ID window; Ashoka lists eight card slots and six compartments. Those are specifications for those product listings, not category-wide standards.

Check dimensions, closure and construction
Confirm that the folded wallet fits your usual pocket and note whether it is a bifold or flap style. Sandro lists its wallet at 11 × 8.5 cm, with three card compartments and two central compartments. Review the product page for closure and hardware details rather than assuming they from the material label; the cited listings do not provide a complete, directly comparable construction specification for every model.
Separate features from material claims
RFID blocking is a feature a manufacturer may specify for a particular model; it is not established by a synthetic outer material. Billabong lists RFID protection, and Ashoka describes an RFID-blocking lining. Check the precise model listing for the feature and its construction before treating it as included.

Examples of published product specifications
| Wallet | Material described | Organization and features listed | Care or guarantee details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mohop Folding Wallet | Leather-like material described by Mohop as 100% nylon | Men’s folding wallet; the cited page does not establish a directly comparable slot count here | Mohop recommends soap and water for dirt and states a one-year repair-or-replace guarantee if something breaks |
| Billabong Dimension S5WM07BIP0 | 100% polyurethane | Bifold; six card slots, zip-up coin pocket, mesh ID window and stated RFID protection | Availability can change; the indexed listing showed the wallet out of stock |
| Sandro SHAPM00198 | 71% polyester, 29% PU coating; body lining listed as cow | Flap wallet; three card compartments, two central compartments; 11 × 8.5 cm | Do not wash, bleach, tumble dry, iron or dry clean, according to Sandro |
| Ashoka Paris Uppeal wallets | Uppeal described as made from apple residue; recycled-plastic-bottle nylon lining | Six compartments, eight card slots and RFID-blocking lining listed for the collection | Surface described as water-resistant, not waterproof; care and warranty terms should be checked on the specific model page |
Specifications, stock and warranty terms can change. Confirm them on the seller’s current product page and check local terms before purchase.
How much should you trust durability claims?
Look for claims tied to the exact wallet and material, and distinguish a brand’s description from independently demonstrated performance. Mohop says of its nylon material: “Our leather-like material is 100% nylon and is water, scratch, and stain resistant, and the finish will not peel or rub off as with PU, PVC or vinyl.” That is Mohop’s product-page claim, not an independent comparative test. The available product pages do not provide standardized head-to-head durability results, so they do not support ranking nylon, PU, PVC or plant-based materials as objectively longest-lasting.

For water resistance in particular, note the wording: Ashoka calls its Uppeal surface water-resistant but not waterproof. Do not assume that a wallet can be soaked or that a feature stated for one material applies to another model.

Follow the instructions for your exact wallet first. Sandro says not to wash, bleach, tumble dry, iron or dry clean its product. Ashoka advises wiping its material with a barely damp soft cloth, avoiding soaking and solvents, and keeping it away from prolonged heat and humidity.

For general synthetic-wallet care, RFIDWallet.com.au’s guide, published April 1, 2026, recommends gentle hand cleaning with mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft cloth for many synthetic surfaces. It warns against harsh solvents, bleach, aggressive scrubbing, machine washing and tumble drying, which may affect coatings, stitched edges or RFID layers. Read the care guide. Defer to the wallet maker when its instructions differ.
