John Cena’s final WWE match took place on December 13, 2025, at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The day before, resale listings were reported at $555 to start, with some asking as much as $16,675. Those were listing prices—not face value or a record of what every buyer paid. Pollstar data later reported by POST Wrestling put the event-wide average sale at $383, likely excluding ticketing fees.
What did tickets cost before Cena’s final match?
On December 12, 2025, The Sporting News reported StubHub resale listings starting at $555, with listings ranging from $600 to $16,675. This was a snapshot of asking prices on one marketplace the day before the event, not a complete inventory or a measure of original face value. It also does not establish what any particular buyer ultimately paid. The Sporting News’ December 12 ticket guide reported the snapshot.
The figures can appear inconsistent with the event’s lower average sale price, but they measure different things. A resale listing is an asking price for a particular seat at a particular time; an event-wide average summarizes reported sales across tickets sold. Ticketing fees can also make the total a buyer pays differ from a listed price.
What were the event’s final reported ticket sales?
POST Wrestling reported Pollstar data showing 17,121 tickets sold and $6,553,883 in ticket sales. The reported average ticket sale was $383, likely excluding ticketing fees. These are event-wide figures reported through POST Wrestling, not a seat-by-seat price list or independently audited figures presented here. POST Wrestling’s February 19, 2026 report provides the figures.

The available reporting does not provide a complete seat-by-seat face-value dataset or a comparable series of original and resale prices over time. It therefore cannot establish exactly how much prices rose from the initial sale, or identify a single price that represents every ticket.
When was the match, and when did tickets go on sale?
WWE announced on September 30, 2025, that Cena’s final match would headline Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The announced ticket schedule set presale for October 15 and general sale for October 17, 2025. WWE’s announcement gave the event and sale dates; Capital One Arena’s event listing identified the same date and linked ticketing to Ticketmaster.

The event has since taken place. WWE’s official results record Gunther defeating Cena by submission in Cena’s final match. WWE’s event results document the outcome, so the old ticket listings should be treated as historical rather than current availability.
What can the price figures tell a ticket buyer?
- Resale listing: The December 12 figures reflect asking prices visible on StubHub, not necessarily completed purchases.
- Event-wide average: The $383 figure is an average sale reported from Pollstar data, not a minimum price or a promise that seats were available at that price.
- Fees and seat location: The reported average likely excludes ticketing fees, and neither source provides a full breakdown by seat or all-in checkout price.
- Timing: A resale snapshot from the day before the event cannot show a verified increase over the original sale because the available sources do not provide comparable prices across dates.
Was there official John Cena retirement-match merchandise?
Yes. WWE announced an official superstore at Gallery Space DC featuring John Cena Final Match merchandise. That confirms an event-merchandise opportunity, but does not establish current stock or the availability or authenticity of any particular third-party listing. WWE’s event announcement included the superstore information.
