The offering drew attention, but the early share-price jump was not evidence of lasting performance—and the IPO figures are historical, not a statement of Zeekr’s current market value or exchange status.
Which automaker had the buzziest EV IPO?
It was Zeekr, a Chinese EV brand owned by Geely. TechCrunch called the offering the “buzziest EV IPO of the year”; “buzziest” was the publication’s characterization of the reception, not a formal ranking or market measure. Zeekr’s shares began trading on the NYSE on May 10, 2024. TechCrunch’s IPO report said the company increased its offering from an earlier plan to sell 17.5 million shares at $18 to $21 each, ultimately pricing 21 million shares at $21.
How much did Zeekr raise, and what happened to the stock?
At $21 per share for 21 million shares, Zeekr raised $441 million in gross IPO proceeds, as reported by TechCrunch in 2024. The report also said the stock price rose 38% during the first few minutes of trading and described a potential valuation of about $7 billion. That was an early trading estimate, not the amount raised and not a current valuation. A sharp opening move captures the market’s initial reaction; it does not establish how a stock performed over a longer period.
Why investors were paying attention
Geely backing and delivery growth
Zeekr’s relationship with Geely gave the company a larger automotive group behind its expansion. TechCrunch reported that Zeekr delivered 49,148 vehicles in the first four months of 2024. Those deliveries provided context for the IPO’s growth story, but delivery volume alone does not show whether a company can turn growth into sustained profits.

Revenue alongside a large loss
TechCrunch, citing company filings, reported that Zeekr generated $7.3 billion in revenue in 2023, recorded a $1.7 billion net loss, and had a 15% gross margin. These are historical figures for 2023, not current results. Together, they show why the IPO was more than a growth story: investors also had to weigh the company’s losses and its ability to improve profitability as it expanded. TechCrunch’s report on Zeekr’s filing discusses the financials and risks disclosed around the offering.
What risks did the IPO coverage identify?
The 2024 coverage pointed to the China–U.S. geopolitical climate, regulatory uncertainty, and scrutiny of Chinese connected and autonomous vehicles as risks relevant to Zeekr. These were concerns raised in the article and company filings, not proof that a particular restriction or adverse outcome would occur.

In the prospectus language quoted by TechCrunch, Zeekr warned that Chinese authorities “may intervene with or influence our operations as the government deems appropriate to further regulatory, political and societal goals.” That is the company’s disclosure as quoted in the 2024 report. It describes a risk investors were asked to consider, rather than a prediction that intervention would happen.
What has changed since the IPO?
Geely’s later reporting says the Zeekr and Lynk & Co merger was completed in the first half of 2025. In its 2026 report on 2025 results, Geely described Zeekr as an operating brand, reported more than 220,000 Zeekr vehicle sales in 2025, and said the brand was present in more than 50 countries and regions across four continents by the end of that year. Geely Auto Group’s 2026 reporting supplies this later operating context; it does not establish the company’s exact current NYSE trading status.

Zeekr’s plans for U.S. vehicle launches also need a date attached. TechCrunch senior reporter Rebecca Bellan wrote on May 10, 2024: “Zeekr hasn’t shared its plans for launching any EVs in the U.S.” That is what the article reported at the time, not confirmation of the company’s plans today. The May 2024 article is the source for that statement.

The sources cited here establish that Zeekr began trading on the NYSE in May 2024, but they do not directly confirm its exchange, delisting, or deregistration status as of October 8, 2026. Geely’s later operating and sales updates do not answer that separate question. Check a current NYSE listing or a direct company filing before treating Zeekr as currently listed or assuming that its shares have been delisted.
For a personal-finance decision, keep the timeline and the risk distinct: the $441 million proceeds, first-minutes price move, and 2023 financials describe the 2024 IPO period. They are not a current share quote, a current valuation, or a present-day financial update.
