SEEK Australia does not charge one fixed price for every job advertisement. It sets a price for each ad, based on factors including the role’s location and average salary, how difficult it may be to find a qualified applicant, and the likelihood of placement. To find your actual cost, check the live quote for the specific vacancy before you buy.
Why SEEK job-ad prices vary
SEEK describes its pricing as bespoke and variable. The price reflects characteristics of the role, including its location, average salary, the difficulty of finding a qualified applicant, and the likelihood of placement. Prices can also move with market conditions, so a quote for another role—or an older quote for a similar role—does not establish what your vacancy will cost now. SEEK’s FY2025 annual report says the price is shown to the hirer when an ad is posted.
There is therefore no reliable universal price to use for budgeting without checking the vacancy itself. SEEK’s published descriptions explain what can affect pricing, but do not provide a standard price table for every role and ad combination.
How to check the price before posting
- Use SEEK’s price checker. Check the price for the role you intend to advertise using SEEK’s price-checking guidance in its Australian product terms.
- Or begin creating the ad directly on SEEK. Review the price shown for the vacancy before purchasing, including any options you select.
- If you post through third-party recruitment software, verify the cost first. SEEK warns that the price may not be displayed at purchase in a third-party posting flow. Confirm the role-specific price before proceeding.
Because prices and product features can change, rely on the current quote shown for your vacancy rather than an old estimate or a figure quoted for a different role.

What SEEK’s ad options include
SEEK describes three paid ad options—Basic, Advanced, and Premium—with different levels of visibility and targeting. Its annual report also describes Lite as a free option with limited search visibility in select Asian markets; it should not be treated as a free Australian ad. SEEK’s FY2025 annual report does not publish universal prices for these options.
| Option | Features described by SEEK | Market and pricing context |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Entry-level paid ad with standard search visibility and candidate recommendations. | Paid option; the price for a particular Australian vacancy must be checked in SEEK’s live flow. |
| Advanced | Increased search visibility and AI candidate targeting; positioned for specialised or competitive roles. | Paid option; the price for a particular Australian vacancy must be checked in SEEK’s live flow. |
| Premium | Maximum search visibility, AI candidate targeting, and additional features; positioned for business-critical or time-sensitive roles. | Paid option; the price for a particular Australian vacancy must be checked in SEEK’s live flow. |
| Lite | Limited search visibility. | Free option for select markets in Asia, not a free Australian ad option. |
How to compare options for your hiring need
Compare the options by what the vacancy requires, not by the tier name alone. A role that is specialised or competitive may make increased visibility and AI targeting more relevant; a time-sensitive or business-critical hire may lead you to consider Premium’s additional features. These are feature distinctions, not a guarantee that a higher tier will produce a hire or a better outcome.
Rank #2
- Check the price for the exact vacancy and chosen option.
- Compare standard versus increased or maximum search visibility.
- Consider whether candidate recommendations or AI candidate targeting fit the role.
- Assess whether the role is specialised, competitive, urgent, or business-critical.
- Include any optional enhancements in the quote before deciding.
Optional enhancements and the total bill
SEEK lists branding, an immediate-start badge, and automated reference checks as optional enhancements. Its published annual-report description does not state a universal surcharge for any of them. Check the live price with the options you intend to use so you can compare the total cost rather than the base ad alone.
