Amazon Haul can offer very low listed prices, but the sticker price alone does not tell you whether an item is a bargain. Delivery can take longer than a typical Amazon order, shipping thresholds and fees vary by country, and the return terms matter. The available evidence does not establish that Haul products are generally poor quality, unsafe, or counterfeit. The real “delusion” is treating a low price as proof of good value before checking the full cost and the listing.
What Amazon Haul is—and what its growth claims show
Amazon introduced Haul in November 2024 as a separate shopping experience with its own search, cart, and checkout. At launch, Amazon said U.S. customers could find items priced at $20 or less, with most at $10 or below, and described typical delivery as one to two weeks. In a November 2025 update, Amazon said Haul had expanded to 25 locations, grown its selection by nearly 400%, and offered more than one million items under $10, many under $5. It also said it had removed the beta designation globally and added categories including toys, electronics, and beauty. Haul was introduced as a low-price storefront competing with services such as Shein and Temu, according to the Associated Press. AP reported that Amazon’s launch materials described U.S. Haul inventory shipping from an Amazon warehouse in China, based on seller documentation Amazon supplied. What a Haul order costs in the United States
Amazon’s published U.S. terms say Haul orders of $25 or more qualify for free delivery; orders below $25 incur a $3.99 delivery fee. Amazon describes delivery as one to two weeks. It says Haul purchases over $3 can be returned free if the return is requested within 15 days of delivery. Amazon also says Haul items are covered by its A-to-z Guarantee for problems such as damage, defects, or an item not matching its description. A low-priced item can therefore cost more than its listing price if it does not help you reach the free-delivery threshold. Whether that extra spending is worthwhile depends on what you would genuinely buy—not on the appeal of avoiding a fee. Taxes and any other charges shown at checkout also affect the final total.

Why the numbers differ by country
Haul’s delivery thresholds and fees are market-specific. Amazon’s UK launch page gave a different example from its U.S. terms, while its Canada launch page set a third threshold. Those pages describe launch terms, so shoppers should confirm current local availability and checkout conditions rather than assume the figures remain unchanged.

How to tell whether the low price is actually worth it
Evaluate the complete purchase, not just the number beside the item. The Federal Trade Commission advises online shoppers to account for shipping, handling, delivery, taxes, and other fees; read the full description and deal terms; and check who pays return shipping, how long returns are allowed, and whether fees apply. - Compare the checkout total. Include the item price, delivery charge, taxes, and other fees. If you are below the free-delivery threshold, compare the fee with the cost of buying only the additional items you actually need.
- Check the product details. Read the full description and specifications, and inspect the seller and brand information. A low price is not enough to establish that an item matches your needs or expectations.
- Check the delivery estimate. Decide whether the stated delivery window works for you, especially if the item is needed by a particular date.
- Read the return terms for that purchase. Confirm the request deadline, whether the return is free, and how to start it. Do not assume the terms for one market or listing apply to another.
- Consider the protections in context. Amazon says it screens Haul products and provides A-to-z Guarantee coverage, but those statements are not proof that every listing is safe, authentic, or right for you.
What the evidence does—and does not—say about quality and counterfeits
The sources available for this article do not establish an independent comparative study of Haul product quality, a Haul-specific defect rate, or a Haul-specific counterfeit rate. That means it would be unjustified to describe Haul products as generally junk, unsafe, authentic, or counterfeit. A buyer can assess a particular listing’s information and terms, but the broad quality claim cannot be settled from the evidence here.

The FTC warns generally that expensive brand-name goods offered at bargain prices could be counterfeit or stolen. That is a reason to be cautious about a specific suspicious offer, not a finding about Haul as a whole. FTC online-shopping advice

Who may find Haul worthwhile
Haul may suit shoppers who are comfortable with its stated delivery window, have checked the specific listing and return terms, and find that the complete checkout price is still attractive. It is a weaker fit when timing is important, the total rises because of delivery charges or add-ons, or the listing does not provide enough detail to judge whether the item meets your needs. Those are value decisions—not evidence that the entire assortment is good or bad.
