That figure is an earnings estimate for a specific 12-month period—not a valuation of his net worth. Forbes’ numbered ranking also factored in followers, engagement and entrepreneurship, so its positions are not a strict earnings leaderboard.
Who were the richest YouTubers in 2023?
Forbes ranked Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, No. 1 on its 2023 Top Creators list and estimated he earned $82 million in gross income during the June 2022–June 2023 measurement period. Guinness World Records separately identifies him as the highest-earning YouTube contributor for that same period, citing Forbes’ October 4, 2023 report: Guinness World Records’ record page.
“2023” refers to the list edition, not earnings made strictly between January and December 2023. Forbes’ methodology explains that it estimated creators’ gross earnings between June 2022 and June 2023: Forbes’ 2023 Top Creators list and methodology.
How much did other YouTube creators earn?
These figures are Forbes estimates for June 2022–June 2023. They are period earnings estimates, not net-worth figures; the creators’ list positions are not presented as a descending earnings order.

Forbes’ list illustrates why its placement numbers should not be mistaken for an earnings ranking: KSI was No. 2 with an estimated $24 million, while Rhett & Link and Preston Arsement each had estimated earnings of $35 million and Jake Paul had $34 million.
What Forbes measured—and what it did not
Forbes estimated gross earnings over the stated 12-month window. Its Top Creators placement also considered social-platform follower counts, engagement rates and an entrepreneurship score. Influential provided the follower and engagement data; engagement was defined as likes, comments and shares divided by total followers. Forbes scored entrepreneurship from one to four, ranging from creators relying mainly on traditional advertising to those building companies, brands and services.

That makes the list useful for comparing creator reach and business activity alongside income, but it does not establish each person’s net worth. Gross earnings over one period are not the same as accumulated assets: the estimate does not, by itself, show taxes, expenses, debts, ownership stakes or how much income remained after business costs.

Online creators can earn through more than platform advertising. Forbes cited MrBeast’s Feastables snack bars, MrBeast Burgers and merchandise; Mythical merchandise from Rhett & Link; Markiplier’s Cloak clothing brand; and Preston Arsement’s graphic novel. These examples help explain the range of creator businesses, but Forbes did not quantify how much any named product or venture contributed to an individual’s estimate.

Across all 50 honorees, Forbes reported a combined 2.6 billion followers and estimated earnings of $700 million—more than 20% above its 2022 total. Those aggregate figures describe the full list, not YouTube creators alone.
