Costco’s March 2, 2026 recall notice names two Service Deli foods: Southwest Chicken Wrap with Sauce (item 29443) and Chicken Street Taco Kits (item 11545). Both purchase windows ended February 6, 2024, so the 2026 notice does not mean these foods were sold recently. Costco says not to eat affected products; dispose of them and ask Costco for a full refund.
Which Costco foods and dates should you check?
Compare the item number and purchase date with Costco’s recall notice. For taco kits, also check the notice’s affected-warehouse list. The notice identifies cheese in the wrap and Cilantro Lime Crema sauce in the taco kits as the implicated ingredients.

Costco’s archived notice, published March 2, 2026, describes a voluntary Class I recall involving dairy products used in Service Delis and names Rizo-Lopez Foods Inc. and Fresh Creations Foods. It calls the concern potential Listeria contamination. It does not say that either Costco item caused confirmed illnesses. The notice and Costco’s current Product Recalls listing can change, so check Costco’s pages for the latest details.
What to do if you have an affected item
- Do not eat it. Costco says affected food should not be consumed and should be disposed of. Do not try to make it safe by reheating.
- Contact Costco about a refund. The notice says customers can visit a Costco for a full refund.
- Clean surfaces the food touched. If it contacted a refrigerator, counter, cutting board, utensil, or container, wash and sanitize that area. Listeria can survive refrigerated temperatures and spread to other foods and surfaces.
Costco’s refrigerator and surface-cleaning instructions
Costco’s FAQ advises washing refrigerator walls and shelves, cutting boards, countertops, and utensils, then sanitizing with one tablespoon of chlorine bleach to one gallon of hot water. Follow the bleach product’s label, dry surfaces with a clean cloth or unused paper towel, and wash hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds before and after handling food and after cleaning.

Costco also advises setting the refrigerator to 40°F (4°C) and the freezer to 0°F (-18°C), and cleaning spills promptly. Those settings are not a way to make recalled food safe. For symptoms that could be Listeria-related, Costco advises contacting a health care provider right away.
Who is at higher risk, and what symptoms can occur?
Costco identifies pregnant people and newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and people with weakened immune systems as more likely to become seriously ill. Its FAQ says symptoms usually begin within two weeks, but can start the same day or as late as 10 weeks after eating contaminated food. These are general guidance points, not an estimate of the risk from the specific Costco items.

Does “latest” mean Costco has a current Listeria outbreak?
No such conclusion follows from these notices. Costco’s March 2026 deli notice concerns products purchased in 2023–24. Costco’s Product Recalls listing inspected October 8, 2026 did not identify a current Listeria food recall. The FDA’s active investigation table did list Listeria investigations, including entries where the product had not been identified, but those entries did not associate the investigations with Costco.

- Kirkland Signature Ahi Tuna Wasabi Poke: The FDA’s September 20, 2025 notice concerned Costco item 17193, with a September 22, 2025 sell-by date and possible Listeria contamination in green onions. The FDA described 3,314.7 pounds recalled and said no illnesses had been reported when the notice was announced. The FDA now lists the recall as terminated. See the FDA recall notice.
- Soft-cheese outbreak investigation: The FDA’s 2026 investigation concerned requesón and related cheeses connected to Clover Hill Dairy, Nelson & Isa Lacteos, and La Ceiba Foods, distributed in specified states and Washington, D.C. The FDA page lists 15 illnesses, 14 hospitalizations, and one death, and says the investigation ended. The cited FDA records do not connect those products or cases to Costco.
