H&M’s partnerships with Madonna, David Beckham and Beyoncé are documented, but the available public announcements do not disclose comparable contract fees. That means there is no substantiated way to rank them as H&M’s “most expensive” deals. What can be compared is the work each partnership covered: touring wardrobe and a fashion line, a long-term product collaboration, or a seasonal advertising campaign.
Can H&M’s celebrity deals be ranked by cost?
Not from the disclosed figures. H&M’s announcements describe the partnerships but do not state what it paid Madonna, David Beckham or Beyoncé. Without comparable, deal-specific fees, celebrity fame, product reach and advertising scale cannot establish which contract cost the most.
One often-cited Beckham figure does not fill that gap: Vogue Japan reported £13 million in sponsorship income for him in 2011, naming H&M among several fashion brands. That is reported income across sponsors, not the fee for Beckham’s H&M contract. The UK Intellectual Property Office describes his H&M role as an endorsement for a fee but gives no amount. Vogue Japan’s report and the UK Intellectual Property Office blog should therefore be read as context, not a price list.
What H&M’s documented partnerships included
| Partner and period | What the partnership covered | Published H&M fee |
|---|---|---|
| Madonna, 2006–2007 | Tour wardrobe, an advertising campaign, a specially designed tracksuit, and a later apparel and accessories collection. | Not stated in H&M’s announcements. |
| David Beckham, from 2011 | A long-term Bodywear collaboration with seasonal products; the initial launch was planned for around 1,800 stores in around 40 countries. A 2012 campaign included a Super Bowl commercial. | Not stated in H&M’s announcements. |
| Beyoncé, 2013 | A summer campaign featuring H&M collection pieces, promoted through television, print and outdoor advertising. | Not stated in H&M’s announcement. |
Madonna: wardrobe, campaign and fashion collection
H&M announced its Madonna partnership in June 2006. The company said it would dress Madonna and her touring troupe off stage, including her band, dancers and crew. The arrangement also included an advertising campaign and a specially designed tracksuit. In February 2007, H&M announced the M by Madonna collection of apparel and accessories. The scope went beyond a single advertising appearance, but H&M did not disclose the partnership’s fee.

H&M’s 2006 announcement describes the tour arrangement; its 2007 collection announcement documents the follow-on line.
David Beckham: a long-term Bodywear collaboration
In July 2011, H&M announced a long-term partnership with Beckham for a DAVID BECKHAM Bodywear range, with new products planned seasonally. The initial announcement said the launch was planned for around 1,800 H&M stores in around 40 countries. Those are approximate distribution figures for the planned launch, not a measure of sales or the value of Beckham’s contract.

H&M’s 2012 campaign brought the collaboration into a Super Bowl commercial. Its announcement listed original U.S. retail prices of $12.95 for briefs and $14.95 for trunks. Those historical product prices are not endorsement fees, and they do not establish current availability or pricing.

Beyoncé: a seasonal campaign featuring H&M apparel
H&M announced its Beyoncé partnership in March 2013 as a summer campaign. Beyoncé wore pieces from the summer collection in television and print advertising; the campaign also used print and outdoor materials. The announcement establishes the campaign’s format and scope, but not Beyoncé’s compensation.
H&M’s 2013 campaign announcement includes Beyoncé’s description of the creative concept and shoot.

What the public record does—and does not—show
The partnerships differed in duration, product involvement and promotion. Madonna’s relationship extended from tour clothing into a designed collection; Beckham’s centered on a recurring Bodywear line; Beyoncé’s was a seasonal campaign. Those distinctions help describe the business arrangements, but none provides a reliable proxy for the fee. Until H&M-specific contract amounts are disclosed on a comparable basis, naming any one of them the most expensive would be speculation.
