Why Kuniskis expects REV buyers to plug in
In a January 20, 2026 report, Kuniskis argued that customer demand matters more than pushing a particular mix of vehicles. “If you force the technology, and you push a higher mix of (range-extended pickups) than the customer pull is going to be, (customers are) never going to plug them in,” he said. By contrast, he said customers who choose the technology themselves will plug in. The report quotes Kuniskis as saying that “customer pull” is what works in the auto industry.
His reasoning is straightforward: a buyer who wants electric driving is more likely to make charging part of the routine, while a buyer who did not want the technology may rely on the vehicle’s gasoline-powered range extender instead. But the remarks express Kuniskis’s view; they do not establish a measured charging rate for future REV owners.
What the reported range-extended REV is expected to offer
The AOL article describes a range-extended pickup in which a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 powers a 92-kWh battery. It reports estimates of 150 miles of electric-only driving and 690 miles of total range, alongside 647 horsepower, 615 pound-feet of torque, and a 14,000-pound towing rating. These are figures reported by that January 2026 article, not independently confirmed final production specifications.

To access the reported electric-only driving capability, owners would need to plug in. The article says a Level 2 home charger would be useful for a battery of this size, but available information does not establish final connector compatibility, installation requirements, charging time, or a specific charger recommendation. Anyone assessing home charging should verify the vehicle’s final specifications and their home’s electrical setup.
REV and Ramcharger names refer to changing plans
The names and product plans have shifted, so older figures for one version should not be mistaken for specifications of another.

- In April 2023, Stellantis announced a battery-electric 2025 Ram 1500 REV with a standard 168-kWh battery and a targeted range of up to 350 miles, or an optional 229-kWh battery and targeted range of up to 500 miles. Those were historical targets for the all-electric version. Stellantis’s 2023 announcement describes that configuration.
- In December 2024, Stellantis said it had moved the range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger’s launch timing ahead of the battery-electric REV. The announcement reflects that plan at the time.
- The current Ram product page calls the REV a “Range-Extended Electric Truck.” Ram’s page uses that branding.
The product page and earlier announcements establish a naming and planning history, but they do not independently confirm the range-extended truck’s final production specifications or its current order and delivery status. Buyers should confirm availability and specifications with Ram before making a purchase decision.
