All Nippon Airways (ANA) reported 86 Boeing 787s as of March 31, 2025, making it the strongest-supported answer to which airline had the largest 787 fleet in 2025. Its count covers ANA airline, not the wider ANA Group, and the available operator figures use different reporting dates rather than a single worldwide census.
ANA’s 2025 fleet count
ANA’s fiscal 2024 results presentation lists three 787 variants in its airline fleet. Adding the reported variant counts gives 86 aircraft as of March 31, 2025. ANA fiscal 2024 results presentation
| ANA airline variant | Aircraft reported |
|---|---|
| Boeing 787-8 | 34 |
| Boeing 787-9 | 44 |
| Boeing 787-10 | 8 |
| Total | 86 |
The total is the sum of ANA’s listed aircraft counts, not a separate number quoted as a fleet total. The presentation lists AirJapan separately with two 787-8s. Counting those as part of the airline figure would blur the distinction between ANA and its parent group: the presentation’s ANA Group total is 88, including those two AirJapan aircraft.
How ANA compares with United
United Airlines reported 12 787-8s, 48 787-9s and 21 787-10s in its fleet as of December 31, 2025, for a total of 81. The figures are listed in United’s 2025 Form 10-K, filed in 2026.

This is a useful comparison of dated company disclosures, not a synchronized ranking: ANA’s snapshot is nine months earlier than United’s. The records cited here do not establish a complete count for every 787 operator on one common date, so the careful conclusion is that ANA has the largest documented count identified in the 2025 records cited here—not that a comprehensive global census has verified every airline’s fleet.
Why Boeing’s older ranking claim is not enough
Boeing called ANA the world’s largest 787 operator in an April 2019 release, when the airline’s 67th Dreamliner joined a fleet then comprising 36 787-8s and 30 787-9s. That is historical context, not proof of the 2025 ranking; the dated ANA fleet table is the relevant evidence for the 2025 count. Boeing’s 2019 release

ANA’s announced plans are not part of the 2025 total
On February 25, 2025, ANA Holdings announced orders for 18 additional Boeing 787-9s and projected that the ANA Group would have approximately 120 787-series aircraft within a total fleet of approximately 320 aircraft in FY2030. Those are announced orders and a future company projection, not aircraft included in ANA airline’s March 31, 2025 fleet count. ANA Holdings’ February 2025 announcement

The fleet is part of a much larger global operation: Boeing reported on April 30, 2025, that the worldwide 787 fleet had carried 1 billion passengers and comprised more than 1,175 aircraft. Those manufacturer figures describe the global fleet, not ANA’s own passenger total or fleet count. Boeing’s 2025 milestone announcement
