TechCrunch’s March 17, 2025 roundup reported openings at dozens of fintech companies, including 325 at Airwallex, 202 at Adyen and 169 at Wise. Those figures describe the roundup’s publication snapshot—not jobs confirmed open today. Hiring was uneven after a turbulent 2024: many companies had fewer vacancies than months earlier, while some had more. Use the list to find employers to investigate, then verify each vacancy on the employer’s own careers page.
What the 2025 roundup can—and cannot—tell you
The TechCrunch article is a dated starting point, not a live job board or a complete count of fintech vacancies. TechCrunch explicitly says, “This isn’t a listing of all available roles in fintech.” Its list cannot establish how many fintech jobs existed across the market, and the reported openings may since have closed or changed. Read the March 17, 2025 TechCrunch roundup for its original company list and context.
The main takeaway is variability, not a uniform hiring rebound. The article says many fintechs had fewer open roles than several months earlier, while some had more. A company appearing in the roundup is a lead to check, not evidence that it is hiring now or that the whole sector is expanding.

The same roundup also named Agora (14), Alloy (31), Altruist (50), Cleo (31) and Mercury (33), among dozens of other employers. Its figures are useful for identifying companies that were advertising roles at that time, but they do not compare pay, job quality, stability, workplace culture or odds of getting an offer.
How to check whether a fintech job is actually open
- Start with the employer’s careers page. Search the company name and “careers” or follow its official careers link. Treat an old article or job-board result as a lead until the employer still lists the vacancy.
- Check the job details before applying. Confirm the role title, seniority, location, remote or hybrid eligibility, required qualifications and any application deadline. A company may list opportunities across several countries or offices, and a remote label does not automatically mean the job is available where you live.
- Compare like with like. If you are evaluating multiple employers, note the date you checked, job function, location, seniority and whether the role appears on the employer’s own site. Third-party job boards can duplicate, lag or retain listings after a vacancy changes.
- Recheck before investing time. Vacancies are time-sensitive. If an application link fails or a role disappears from the official page, do not assume the old listing remains active; look for a current posting or contact the employer through its published recruiting channel.
Career pages illustrate why the date matters. Step’s page showed 22 openings when checked for this article, spanning areas including compliance, engineering, finance, marketing, product, design, HR and operations; several were remote. Point’s page showed opportunities including senior accountant, security operations, legal, engineering, customer experience and Manila-based roles. These are volatile page snapshots, not updates to the 2025 TechCrunch counts: Step careers and Point careers.

What broader hiring figures mean
Two other 2025 figures offer context, but neither should be mistaken for a complete measure of fintech vacancies.
- Checkout.com’s company-reported plans and activity: In its 2025 annual letter, the company said it planned to grow its team 15% to 2,000 staff, received 208,000 applications for more than 700 open roles, and increased U.S. hiring by 80%. These are Checkout.com’s own reported figures, not independent industry-wide statistics. See Checkout.com’s 2025 annual letter.
- Morgan McKinley’s UK forecast: The recruitment firm forecast a 32% increase in UK fintech hiring for 2025. It cited demand in areas including risk and compliance, fraud and financial crime, cybersecurity reform and infrastructure. This was a prospective, UK-specific forecast—not a measured result or a forecast for every fintech market. See Morgan McKinley’s 2025 UK fintech outlook.
Different employers, locations and job functions can move in different directions at once. These examples do not establish that the sector as a whole was hiring more, nor do they predict whether a particular company will have an opening that suits you.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteUse the list as a search map, not a ranking
For someone recently laid off, a recent graduate or a worker considering a change, the practical value of the roundup is its employer names. Narrow the list by the work you want to do and where you can work, then check live postings directly. A reported count alone says little about whether a company has a suitable role, whether you meet its requirements or whether the vacancy is still open.
