Most Samsung refrigerators sold in the United States have one year of parts-and-labor coverage, but certain components may have longer, separate protection. Samsung lists five years of parts and labor for the sealed refrigeration system and ten years of parts plus five years of labor for the digital inverter compressor. The exact terms depend on the model and purchase date, so check the warranty for your refrigerator before assuming a repair is covered.
How long is the Samsung refrigerator warranty?
Samsung’s U.S. refrigerator overview describes these standard coverage periods for most models. Its limited-warranty document gives additional detail, including separate ice-maker coverage. Terms vary by model; consult your model’s warranty and manual for the terms that apply to your purchase.

These durations describe warranty terms, not a promise that a component will last for that period or that every repair involving it will qualify. A warranty claim must satisfy the applicable terms and exclusions.
What does the warranty cover—and what can exclude a repair?
Samsung describes its manufacturer warranty as protection against defects in materials or workmanship during normal household use. The reviewed limited-warranty document is for qualifying products purchased and used in the United States. It requires installation, operation and maintenance according to the product instructions, and addresses the original consumer purchaser; proof of purchase may be requested.

The limited-warranty PDF lists exclusions that include shipping, delivery, installation, unauthorized modification, cosmetic damage, misuse and failure to follow product instructions. The complete exclusions and any local legal qualifications depend on the applicable warranty. Read the exact model’s warranty rather than treating this list as exhaustive.
Who performs warranty service?
Samsung’s limited-warranty document requires service by Samsung-authorized providers. Samsung may repair, replace or refund a product at its option under the applicable warranty. In-home service in the contiguous United States depends on authorized-servicer availability; some locations may involve transportation or trip charges. Confirm service arrangements and any charges with Samsung before booking.

How to check your warranty status
- Find your model and purchase date. Use the model information on the refrigerator or its paperwork, and locate the dated receipt or order confirmation.
- Check Samsung’s warranty lookup or account. Sign in to your Samsung account or use Samsung’s warranty checker and support page for the exact model. The general warranty page is Samsung’s warranty overview.
- Open the model’s manual and warranty terms. Samsung’s terms page directs customers to product materials and the model manual for complete terms: Samsung warranty terms.
- Contact support before arranging a repair. Provide the model, serial number, proof of purchase and a description of the problem. Ask whether the issue and component are covered, whether an authorized technician is available in your area, and whether any trip or transportation charges could apply.
For most Samsung appliances, coverage begins automatically on the purchase date; registration is useful for support, offers and notifications. Samsung says a purchase through Samsung.com or registration in SmartThings may result in automatic registration. Promotional warranty extensions
Two Samsung pages describe 2026 two-year coverage promotions, but both published periods have ended as of October 8, 2026. One set of terms covered qualifying purchases from January 1 through July 8, 2026, with claims through August 8; another overview displayed an end date of September 30, 2026. Because the dates differ and have passed, do not assume either offer is active. Check the current offer terms, eligible-model list, purchase window and claim deadline before relying on an extension. Samsung’s refrigerator page describes optional Care+ plans with 3-, 5- and 7-year durations, an extended service contract, 24/7 support, power-surge coverage and food-loss reimbursement. The page does not establish a specific plan’s price, deductible, eligibility or coverage limits for every refrigerator. What if the refrigerator is out of warranty?
Samsung offers an upfront repair-pricing service for some out-of-warranty appliances. The service page says its flat rate includes diagnosis, parts, labor and applicable taxes, and that a repeat of the same issue within 90 days is covered by the repair warranty. Not every product or symptom qualifies; availability depends on ZIP code, technicians and parts. What to verify before making a coverage decision
- The exact model and the warranty terms in effect for its purchase date.
- Whether the failed component has its own coverage period, and whether that period covers parts, labor or both.
- Whether the purchaser, household use, installation and maintenance meet the warranty’s eligibility conditions.
- Whether proof of purchase is available and whether Samsung-authorized service can reach your location.
- For an optional plan or repair quote, the price, deductible, covered failures, claim limits and any relevant service charges.
Warranty duration alone does not establish which refrigerator or protection plan is more reliable or better value. Compare the written terms that apply to your household and the repair you may need.
