Every 2024 lease offer listed here has expired; none should be treated as available today. In Electrek’s December 24, 2024 roundup, several SUVs had low advertised payments, but the estimated monthly cost rose once the upfront amount was spread across the lease term. For a fair comparison, look at payment, term, cash due at signing, mileage allowance, location, and fees—not the monthly teaser alone.
What the advertised 2024 offers actually cost
The table compares the examples published by Electrek on December 24, 2024. Its effective monthly figures are the source’s reported amounts, not a new calculation; the source does not establish that every offer includes the same fees or uses an identical calculation method. The offers are a curated snapshot, not a complete ranking of every vehicle, trim, market, or month.

Why the lowest monthly payment may not be the cheapest lease
The advertised payment leaves out the effect of cash due at signing. Electrek’s reported effective monthly costs illustrate the gap: its $159-per-month EV6 example was reported at $319 per month after accounting for upfront costs, while the $299-per-month Equinox EV example was reported at $431 per month. These are the source’s figures, and the comparison should not be treated as a standardized all-in quote because its fee treatment is not established as uniform.

For your own comparison, write down the complete lease terms and calculate a consistent figure. A simple cash-flow measure is (monthly payment × number of months + cash due at signing) ÷ number of months. That includes only the stated upfront cash; it is not a full lease cost if taxes, registration, acquisition charges, dealer fees, or other costs are excluded or treated differently. Separate refundable deposits and charges you would pay regardless of the lease when comparing quotes, and confirm exactly what each due-at-signing figure covers.
Offers changed by date, location, and mileage
A separate February IONIQ 5 snapshot
CarsDirect reported a distinct national offer on February 21, 2024: a 2024 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Long Range at $299 per month for 36 months, with $3,499 due at signing, MSRP of $47,035, and 10,000 miles per year. CarsDirect said the offer included $10,000 in lease cash. This February offer is a separate dated example; it is not the same offer as Electrek’s December listing and should not be combined with it.

Geography could change the quote
Electrek’s roundup described an Ariya example at $99 per month in Colorado and $169 per month in New York. That difference is a reminder that a national headline—or an offer seen in another state—may not match a local dealer’s terms. The cited figures are historical examples, not evidence of a current regional offer.
Mileage and eligibility belong in the comparison
An advertised payment applies to its stated mileage allowance and qualification rules. The February IONIQ 5 report specified 10,000 miles per year. A different allowance can change the quote, and credit approval, inventory, taxes, fees, and the exact trim can also affect what a shopper is offered. Tesla’s current leasing guidance says estimated payments exclude taxes and fees and are subject to underwriting; that is process guidance, not proof of the terms of its 2024 Model Y example.

What market averages tell you—and what they do not
Experian Automotive’s State of the Automotive Finance Market for Q2 2024 reported average lease payments of $414 for the Hyundai IONIQ 5, $411 for the Nissan Ariya, $579 for the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and $464 for the Kia EV6. It also reported an average payment difference of $88 between leasing and financing across all EV models. These are market-level figures, not promotional quotes for a particular trim, location, credit profile, or buyer. They provide context for the period, but they do not establish that a specific deal was good for an individual shopper.

How to evaluate a lease offer before signing
- Confirm the vehicle and location. Match the model year, trim, dealer, and ZIP code to the offer; ask whether the advertised vehicle is actually in inventory.
- Get the full quote in writing. Record the monthly payment, lease length, mileage allowance, due-at-signing amount, taxes, acquisition and dealer fees, and any required down payment or trade-in.
- Check qualifications and expiration. Ask which credit tier or other eligibility assumptions apply, what incentives are included, and the offer’s expiration date.
- Normalize the costs. Compare quotes using the same term, mileage, and fee assumptions. If you calculate an effective monthly cash outlay, disclose which upfront charges you include rather than treating the result as an all-in cost.
- Assess the vehicle separately. Lease payment evidence alone cannot rank range, charging, cargo space, equipment, or overall value. Compare those needs using reliable specifications and a vehicle that matches the quoted trim.
What the 2024 roundup cannot establish
The examples are useful for understanding the shape of advertised offers, but they do not provide a like-for-like evaluation of every SUV. The available figures do not consistently establish mileage, taxes and fees, qualification assumptions, expiration dates, inventory status, or the fee treatment behind each reported effective monthly amount. Nor do they support a vehicle-quality ranking based on range, charging, cargo, or equipment. Verify those details against a written dealer quote before relying on any lease calculation.
Electrek also noted that a Ford Power Promise at the time included a free Level 2 home charger and standard installation. That was a historical promotion in its December 2024 coverage, not a current benefit or a specific charger recommendation.
