Who is the highest-paid female soccer player?
For publicly reported annual club salary, the clearest current answer is Trinity Rodman. Forbes Australia reported in January 2026 that her Washington Spirit contract is worth more than $2 million annually and described her as the highest-paid female soccer player on publicly reported club-salary terms: Forbes Australia.
That figure does not reveal Rodman’s total annual income. Endorsements, bonuses and other earnings are not necessarily included in a club-salary report, and the available evidence does not establish a full, comparable global total-earnings ranking.
Why there is no reliable ranked top-ten list
“Highest paid” can mean a player’s club salary or her total earnings, including bonuses and off-field income. Those measures cannot be combined into one ranking without comparable figures for the same period and a clear accounting of what each amount includes.

The available reports illustrate the problem: Rodman’s figure is an annual contract value, while Catarina Macario’s reported deal is a multi-year total with additional compensation. Neither supplies the comparable player-by-player data needed to rank the world’s top earners.

Forbes’ 2025 female-athlete ranking also covers athletes across sports and uses calendar-year earnings, including on-field income and estimated off-field income such as endorsements, licensing, appearances, memorabilia and business interests. How to read salary claims and rankings
- Check the measure: an annual club salary is not the same as total earnings from salary, bonuses and endorsements.
- Check the time unit: a yearly figure cannot be ranked directly against a contract total spanning several seasons.
- Check what is disclosed: reported contract values may not spell out bonus, incentive or payment details, while endorsement estimates can use different methods.
- Check the period and currency: athlete earnings rankings are tied to a specific year, and figures from different reporting periods should not be treated as simultaneous annual pay.
International coverage often calls the sport “football” and uses phrases such as “highest-paid women’s football player.” The terminology differs by region; it does not make a club-salary comparison equivalent to a total-earnings ranking.
