That is an opening record—not the series’ highest lifetime gross. Its domestic opening figures and IMAX result use different reporting windows and measures, so they should not be treated as interchangeable.
What record did The Final Reckoning set?
Paramount said in its July 31, 2025, second-quarter earnings release that Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning “set a franchise record for the biggest global opening in theaters.” The claim is about the film’s worldwide opening performance within the Mission: Impossible franchise; it does not mean the film had the franchise’s highest lifetime box office. Paramount’s earnings release also reported that the film had earned more than $590 million worldwide by that point, a dated checkpoint rather than a final total.
How much did it make worldwide?
Box Office Mojo’s title page, accessed in 2026, lists a worldwide gross of $598,767,057: $197,413,515 domestic and $401,353,542 international. These are database figures that may be revised. The difference between that total and Paramount’s earlier “over $590 million” figure reflects differently dated reporting snapshots, not necessarily a contradiction. See Box Office Mojo’s title-page figures.
How do the domestic opening figures compare?
The reported domestic figures differ by measurement window and source. The Associated Press reported an estimated $63 million through Sunday for The Final Reckoning. Box Office Mojo’s title page lists a domestic opening of $64,036,428. Those values should be attributed to their respective sources rather than presented as the same estimate or reporting snapshot.

| Film or measure | Reported domestic opening | Window and source |
|---|---|---|
| The Final Reckoning | Estimated $63 million | Through Sunday, per the Associated Press, May 2025. |
| The Final Reckoning | $64,036,428 | Opening figure listed on Box Office Mojo’s title page, accessed in 2026. |
| Dead Reckoning Part One | $56.2 million | Three-day opening, as reported by the Associated Press in May 2025. |
| Dead Reckoning Part One | $80 million | Five-day launch, as reported by the Associated Press in May 2025. |
The distinction matters because Dead Reckoning Part One had a larger five-day launch figure than The Final Reckoning’s reported three-day estimate, while its three-day figure was lower. The values describe different windows, so they do not overturn Paramount’s separate claim about the franchise’s biggest worldwide opening. The Associated Press also reported that Fallout opened domestically to $61 million in 2018; that is another domestic comparison, not the worldwide franchise record.
What does the $31 million IMAX opening mean?
IMAX reported that The Final Reckoning earned $31 million across its global IMAX network through Monday, May 26, 2025, calling it the biggest IMAX global opening in the franchise’s history. IMAX also said its fewer than 900 screens accounted for 14.2% of the film’s global box office during the opening period. These are IMAX’s own network figures and share, not the full theatrical gross or a lifetime screen share. IMAX’s release gives its network results.
